Hawthorns School Admin Team
Well here we are half way through the school year already! As usual we have run a series of successful events this year already with a number more planned for the rest of the year.
One other matter that we need to plan for is the succession of the Officers of the PTA. Although being on PTA is very rewarding everyone’s tenure on the Committee is limited. To parents to be on the PTA you need a child at the school and so, therefore, at the end of year 6 any PTA parents move on.
...This year all the Officers (Chairman, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer) have children in year 6 and therefore we will be leaving. Consequently, we are looking for people to come forward to take over these roles from September to ensure the smooth continuance of the PTA. You do not need any specialist skills for these roles although it would be helpful if the Treasurer knew their way around a set of accounts! Apart from that there is just the need for enthusiasm, the ability to organise and a desire to help the school by raising money.

We are looking for some help to run the Bunny Bingo event in March. This is a fun event which all the kids love but unfortunately, due to both family and work commitments, no one within the Committee is available to organise and run the event. We are therefore looking for one, or more, volunteers to take on this event. We are happy to provide guidance and advice but whoever organises this will be responsible for all aspects of its organisation, both in advance, an...d on the day.

Obviously, if we cannot get someone to take this on we will have to cancel the event so I hope that someone can be found.

Years 1/2 : 4 Volunteers needed
Years 3/4: 2 Volunteers needed
Years 5/6: 5 Volunteers needed
One or more of the discos will have to be cancelled if we don't reach our required quota!
What a great afternoon we had at the Peter Pan Panto. We had the best seats in the house (140 of us in all of the first 8 rows!) and we definitely got the biggest cheer when Justin Fletcher did the Hawthorns School Shout Out! We had two Hawthorns pupils helping Justin with a song (photo added with parents permission), Gerald helping with the "Five Toilet Rolls" and well done to Paloma for all the teasing she received from the Panto Dame! Big thanks to Sue and Steve Schafer for organising the event again on behalf of the PTA. Watch this space for Aladin next year!

Bids will close at midnight on Tuesday 12th December. Confirmation of winning bids will be notified on Wednesday 13th December and all items must be collected before school closes on Tuesday 19th December.
Thank you to everyone for making today's Christmas Fair a huge success. There were many people involved in putting it together but huge thanks to Em Delcher and Nicky Crook for their tireless efforts to ensure that everything went to plan on the day.
We are now doing the counting but hope to announce another good contribution to the funds available for the school to spend.
Moving forward we are going to require more help to run these events - and to run the PTA. With the maj...ority of the Committee Members leaving at the end of the school year, as our children complete Year 6, we are looking for new blood to get involved to learn the ropes to ensure that school continues to benefit from PTA fundraising in the future.
