Had a great 4,000 footer weekend in early November. Our group of 8 was lucky enough to have the only 2 full time AMC guides in NH, plus a volunteer guide who was ready with hot chocolate on the trai...l! Great hikes, great food, great accomadations, a great time. See More

Everything a hiker needs and some, meet and greet mingle hour at the outside bar was cool. Being out of the one big rain storm on my section hike of NH on the AT... priceless. Heaps of food for dinner... and breakfast, pretty good spread for the price of stay. Primitive-ish rustic log cabin feel make for a very relaxing and restorative nights stay in "civilization". I spent the weekend at the Highland Center to participate in the Winter Hiking Clinic. Everyone I interacted with (clinic staff, desk/hospitality staff, kitchen staff) was AWESOME. Everyone is happy... and enthusiastic about being outside.

Great base for any outdoor activity

I had a good visit; I also visited the museum and spoke to an attendant about a pending hike and what the weather conditions would be like.

I had a fantastic 'new member weekend'. The employees and volunteers and guides are wonderful, the choice of hikes by the guides is perfect, and the meals are just incredibly good (quality over quanti...ty, a vegeterian option, lunches-to-go for hikers, nice choice of wines, very cool 'happy hour' on saturdays). The place itself is so comfy and warm that you feel at home with friends right at the beginning, and the location is marvelous. I look forward to going back and recommend it to all nature lovers. This was our second year of traveling up north to the lodge to have Thanksgiving dinner. And like last year, this year's dinner was phenomenal. The food is just beyond delicious and there were so many... good dishes to choose from. The staff is friendly and helpful and attentive. I really can't say enough good about the lodge's incredible Thanksgiving buffet! We'll be back next year! See More

We had a very nice weekend get away there. The food was good, the guides were awesome, the staff was very friendly and helpful, and the scenery and natural features were awesome. The only negative o...bservation was that our mattress was at the end of its' service life. I would highly recommend going there. See More

This is a great facility located right in the heart of the White Mountains. It is welcoming, clean and the food was good. They also has good quality outdoor equipment to borrow. The only thing I was for them to improve if they haven't already, is to get more comfortable mattresses. The mattress was way too firm for me. Otherwise a good place and good value. See More

My new favourite place. The surroundings and endless opportunities for outdoor adventure are reason # 1 to go, but the beautiful eco-conscious lodge staffed by uber friendly and helpful staff are a cl...ose #2. Add in the delicious meals and new friendships with like-minded people created in the dining hall and common areas and you have a perfect getaway this Canuck wishes she could return to every weekend. My family and I love the Highland Center! All kinds of great hiking all around from easy to extremely challenging, spectacular location, and great staff and accommodations. And the nature playground... was probably our 3 and 6 year old's favorite part! AMC is a fantastic organization and we can't wait to check out more of their lodges and huts as our kids get older. We came up for the Welcome Member Weekend April 7, 8th and 9th, 2017. It was a wonderful time snowshoeing! My first time. Our hike leaders Dan and Bill were so patient, knowledgeable and fun. They... made our first time here at this AMC center memorable. Hoping to come back when there is no snow the next time! See More

Thank you Emily for calling the police on our car and having it towed! Apparently the highland center does not maintain the depot parking lot yet allows cars to park there. The entrance looks like an rink with a picnic table in front of the entrance. . There is no sign saying this is an entrance or do not park. Instead they let cars park on the side of the road and tow them. The officer that we talked to says this happens all the time, yet the highland center does not care. 25 minute drive for the taxi at 2$ a mile and 150$ for the tow. You know what would fix this. A Simple sign. If this dump is this inconsiderate then I would not recommend this place. Thank you for a terrible time. See More

Great accommodation and incredible nice staff members. They all seem to really love what they do, and you can feel it in the atmosphere!
I did a guided hike with them and they gave me all necessary e...quipment (no, not rented) from snowshoes to shell pants. So convenient, I loved the experience!! See More

AMC Highland Center is a great place to stay for outdoor adventures or just chill to be in mountains. The staff and food are amazing. All the folks working there have very positive, welcoming, helpf...ul attitudes & it really makes a difference. Being alone at Christmas is never fun but felt good to be around positive people in a beautiful place & walk up a mountain :-) See More

AMC Highland Center added 4 new photosfeeling excited about winter.

My snowshoes were put to good work this morning breaking out the trail to Mount Willard. Someone went up yesterday morning but with additional snow through the day and night it needed to be broken again! What's the takeaway? If you love snow, it's a good weekend to be in the Notch

Last weekend AMC staff and volunteers participated in a Wilderness First Aid class here at the Highland Center. Blowing snow and old temps certainly made the class challenging and realistic! Photo cred: Joe Roman
