Greetings Whanau, just a reminder we are having a "Teacher Only" day this Monday 22nd January 2018. The teachers will all be involved in professional development, team building and planning for the coming year. We will open again Tuesday 23rd January with our programme in full swing. Leonie
Today we enjoyed a visit from the awesome library ladies. We loved listening to the stories, action songs and then catching bubbles. After the rain stopped we went outside and excitedly jumped in the puddles. It's the simple things in life that truly matter.
Today we were excited that the St John Ambulance were coming to visit our centre. The children enjoyed the interactive mat time with the ambulance officers as they listened to stories, checked out the equipment and even wore some high vis vests. The highlight was definitely going outside and checking out the ambulance. We all got to sit inside the ambulance and then watch the lights flashing and the siren blaring. To conclude the visit we were given certificates, stickers and worksheets. We are very grateful to St John for going to our centre.
Let there be peace and tranquility on earth, And goodwill to all people..
He mihi mamhau, he mihi matakuikui, he mihi mo. Te kihihimete me te tau hou ki a koutou.
Our Centre closes tomorrow at 12.30pm and we re-open Wednesday 3rd January. We wish you all a very Happy Christmas and look forward to seeing you in the New Year. Take care and be safe. Arohanui from all of us here!
On Friday 8th December we held our Whanau Christmas party. We also said farewell to Sandra Cox as she stepped down as manager for the last 14 years and retired. Over this period of time Sandra had lead and guided many students through their studies and was a dedicated mentor to each of them. She saw many ECE changes and devoted all her energy into providing a safe nurturing Centre for many children. Sandra held the vision of Hillcrest Childcare as being a supportive learning community, where teachers aim to foster a love of learning in a fun way as well being safe and supportive. We wish Sandra all the very best for her retirement and look forward to her popping in and saying hello!
