A package theft occurred on the 1000 block of Salem Avenue. The theft occurred on June 21, 2017 at approximately 2:04 PM. The suspect is described as a black male wearing white shorts, a white shirt and black sneakers. The suspect took the package from the front porch of the Salem Avenue residence. On Saturday, June 10th Hillside and East Orange Police Officers participated in the 1st Annual Hillside PD vs. East Orange PD Basketball Game at Hillside High School. Hillside K-9 Officer and FOP President, Mike Flowers, teamed up with East Orange Police Officer and FOP President, Craig Epps, to organize this Pre-Father's Day event. Participants and spectators all had a great time!

Route 22 East is down to one lane in front of the Nissan dealer in Hillside. A manhole cover in the fast lane cracked causing a hazard. You can avoid the traffic backup if you get on Route 22E at or after the ramp from Hillside Ave. This status will be updated when the issue is resolved.

Residents of Conant Street and the surrounding area - Please do not start your cars and leave them running unattended. Make sure when getting out of your cars that you are locking the doors behind you. Unattended cars left running and unlocked cars can become easy targets for theft. Please report anyone or anything suspicious in your neighborhood to the police department.
