Of all the restaurants in Kensington, of course open my big mouth and try 'Hungry Thai', because it sounds like Mandy Sou insta account, onehungrynga (not racist, just fortunate Chinese name that soun...ds like a racial slur).

Easily the worst restaurant in Kensington. Just save yourself the disappointment and walk across the intersection to Via Mercanti.

You know you're fucked when you walk into an empty restaurant in Kensington on pedestrian Sundays during dinner hour, and see, not so much a 'fusion' of Hungarian and Thai, but Hungarian dishes standing awkwardly beside Thai dishes on the menu. Reminiscent of those awkward few seconds before Goten and Trunks combine to form Gotenks, where they're standing beside each other looking retarded (medical term, not derogatory).

There were only 2 tables of four (including my table of 4), but I can understand why the manager/server/owner was so busy--talking on his personal cell, watching grown men in tight spandex run around with a funny shaped ball (NFL) WHILE he was in the middle of carrying entrées to tables, and picking your nose while talking to some guy that looked Gandalf's dad, before getting our entrées, takes up a lot of time.

Also, I don't think he knows that the Thai half of his menu is shared/family style. Who the fuck just orders 1 cashew chicken with no noodles or rice to pair it with for themselves? Do you even Canada's Food Guide bro?

You can tell all the stuff is from a prepackaged bag, bland and unappealing. And he charges 20 bucks for the non-existently thin coagulated white paste sandwiched between over-fried breadcrumbs, he calls pork schnitzel?

The water was perfect though.

Also, there is no 'bar'. There is a bar... But you can't sit there... Because it's tucked away in the back corner. And there are no chairs. And no empty counter space.

Also the plastic sports-bra-esque backs of a lot of the chairs are broken. So, make like Fat Joe and lean forward, lest you would like a quick refresher on Newton's 2nd and 3rd laws of motion.

My family liked it though. **DISCLAIMER** The last time they were in Kensington was well before my parents got married.

My friend and I came into this place around 9:30 last night and the patio was full but there were seats inside. We asked a woman, seemingly the only staff, if my friend could use their bathroom. First... she ignored us. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and spoke up a little louder. We were told it was for paying customers only and that "they," gesturing to a door at the back, wouldn't want us to use it. I offered to buy a cocktail or something from the menu. She told us that they were closed now and that "they," (gesturing again at the door) wouldn't allow it and to "please just go." We were both wearing sundresses but she was acting like we had walked in with guns or something. See More

Been back after a long time and it was as good as ever! We come here for Hungarian food, which I can say is the best and most authentic in Toronto. I see lots of bad reviews on service... this is not ...your quicky, hipster, tattooed place. It's a breath of Europe and, with the death of Prague on Queen, a rare experience in otherwise dorm-buffet style Toronto food scene. Love it and recommend it to everyone. With a note: I've only eaten HUN food here and that's what I come for See More

Service was terrible. We ordered and the waiter clearly made a mistake because one of the pad thais didnt come out. When we asked about it, instead of apologizing and trying to make it better, the ser...ver was just plain rude. Not coming back. See More

Came to meet some friends and was denied service and lied to several times yesterday evening.
- I was told they were closing early at 9 (A lie)
- Other party on the patio wasn't being shuffled away...
- I pointed to the hours of operation sign
- Told it was a slow day (on pedestrian Sunday. A lie)
- A party walked in and sat inside and given menus. I pointed them out
-They were closing the ONLY our side of the patio (a lie)
- A new party sat in the "closed" area
- That area became open for reservations ("after hours"...a lie.
- Group didn't back up the reservation claim. Just sat wide-eyed, unjustly in the middle of it all

Maybe they didn't like my skateboard, maybe they didn't like my laugh. If that were the case, I suggest that you approach with kindness and respect. I would have been happy to talk it out and find a solution. The lack of clarity and push to get us out begs question of whether this was an issue of us being POC. I'd like to hope not, but if it is, I hope you find the reconciliation and healing you need to approach future clients with love and without discrimination.

I have never been at the Hungarian Thai restaurant and I will never go back. I ordered the PadThai with Chicken to go. When I got home 10 min later, the noodles where overcooked to the point of mush. ...There was barely any chicken and it tasted like ketchup with some spice. See More

This place is amazing! My folks are Hungarian so I'm well versed in the cuisine. I also lived in Thailand so know that delicious food well too. I wasn't sure what to expect-Hungarians making Thai food... and all-but everything was delicious! We had combo plates of cabbage rolls and spring rolls, schnitzel and more. Chilled out on the patio with pals from England. Staff was more than welcoming and very attentive. Highly recommend this unique gem! See More

Enjoyed some great Thai soup and Hungarian strudel, along with a Mill Street brew. Next visit I'm going for the goulash. Don't miss this place.

When you enter you feel and are greeted with a welcoming feeling that is sincere. When you become a regular you are welcomed as am old friend. The food is great; it's the only way I can describe it an...d if it weren't for the the sincerity from everyone there I would not have gone back. I have been to other Hungarian restaurants,(I myself am Canadian Hungarian,) there is no other I can recommend other than the Hungary Thai! See More

Thank you for a wonderful meal. The Gypsy schnitzel and shrimp pad Thai were a delicious combination of Hungary meets East. Highly recommend this Eatery if you're visiting Kensington Market.
