After a 45-year presence on Virgin Gorda, the Hunter family has made the tough decision to sell our property, and it is no longer available as two of the islands earliest and longest-running vacation rentals.
Market forces, including now more than 200 newer homes available to rent, and an attractive purchase offer, helped us make this painful decision.
The Cedar House, built in 1972, before paved roads and electricity came to Virgin Gorda, has had a venerable history and a t...rail of faithful, returning families over the years.
Our on-island friends, and former returning guests, will soon see a large new mansion constructed on top of our former hill.
We wish the new owner well, and we thank all VG residents for making our family a part of yours over the years!
Summer is a great time to visit Virgin Gorda. Our reduced summer rates are in place until Dec. 15, and beaches, as well as the whole island have fewer vacationers, and you may often find a beach to yourselves. Our Boulder House (picture here and in the inset above) is perfect for 2-3 people; for more, you might want to consider the Cedar House. Both rent for the same low rate, and each one comes with the free use of one of our Ford Rangers. No rental car needed!
As we set up our Facebook page in November, we mentioned we were just back from our first family wedding in Virgin Gorda...son Seth and Meryl. Here is a small collection of photos from the week our gathering of family and a few friends celebrating and having fun together. The wedding was at St. Mary's Anglican church. Pre- and post-parties were at our homes and at The Crawl, with a very nice reception on the grounds at Guavaberry Spring Bay. Enjoy our memories of a wonderful week!
With one of our Ford Rangers as a free benefit, every beach becomes yours, just a few minutes away...sometimes yours alone! The Baths are great, but be sure to explore the others...Savannah Bay, Pond Bay, Devils Bay, The Crawl, Spring Bay, Little Trunk, Valley Truck, and on and on...
Our larger vacation rental home, with three bedrooms, two baths and a capacity of up to 9 guests. All rooms open onto the 10'x70' West Deck, overlooking The Valley, the Marina, and westward over the Caribbean Sea to Tortola and St. John (USVI). On top of our 3-acre hill, The Cedar House has views of 360 degrees and is referred to by locals as having "the best residential views on the island".
Our Boulder House comfortably accommodates four guests and features a well-equipped kitchen, one full bath, and is surrounded by a wrap-around deck with island and ocean views of 330 degrees. It is located about 150' north of our Cedar House. For larger families, groups,or wedding gatherings, consider renting both the Cedar and Boulder houses together! Keep your group together with three acres of private grounds as your own. Each house rental comes with the free use of one of our two Ford Rangers.
Well...It took a long time getting around to this, But we finally made it to Facebook. It took a family wedding at St. Mary's church to get much of the family together in VG at one time.
More on that later, but for now, It would help us a lot if you'd give us a Like! Thanks very much We'll be posting VG news of us and the islands regularly.
