How blow chain applies for business as well as provide you with the real world application of law chain. Um that has been focusing on recently so what is blocking lol change is the trusted system of record. It's basically a technology that enables businesses to work together with more trust our ceo, jenny are many actually recently said what the Internet did for communications block chain will do for trusted transactions and if you think about that for a second That means all transactions transactions around financial services, cargo shipments as well as food safety or gonna talk to you a little bit more about team. You may not have heard about potentially, but you would have definitely heard about point and big point was actually the world's first block chain application so so what's all this buzz about club team well, let me tell you what I'm really excited about launching why I'm really excited about launching its because it applies to essentially all business networks. If you think about a business network Means there's multiple participants, we've got industry players we've got insures regulators, orders as well as banks and in order for them to actually verify their transactions. They keep records, but those records are kept internally to reconcile those transactions is quite expensive. It's really an efficient and risky because of human era, what block chain is proposing and would go the songs is it gives everyone a shared replicated and permission ledger system and what that really means is Everyone's got the exact same copy of the of what's been going on and they can trust that it's true because it's been verified by pretty much everybody else in that network. What's the input from the business so what I think like what I think why I think watching is truly amazing for um business through three core tenets. First is the shared measure already talked about it. It's everyone's got the exact same record. Secondly, is privacy all business all business Participants have different permissions or different rights to the data so they can only see what the input the user, who input the data allows them to see and the third is trust and I can't stress on this enough trust in the network is essentially in because all the transactions are endorsed by all the other network participants, so yeah and what we're talking to you more about today. Um I think I'm really excited about is one of ventures in block chain is around food safety currently in the global food Network food industry there are a lot of system in problems there's about 400000 lives lost each year due to food borne illnesses is about one in 10 people who fall to food related issues globally. That's about 600 million people and in order to fix that um what industry really needs to get is an attic with track and trace capability and people have tried before the food industry. I know it's been working on it for a long time, but what ibm's proposing is a holistic solution to essentially be able to have A visibility around all of the transactions and all of the supplies and of the suit an Italian here is gonna walk us through a demo of our food safety solution and what ibm's plans are for um for the solution. As well. Thank idea into this demo we're going to use food safety solution by block team to tray strawberries and I so start by entering products apply code into the system And they see price now we can come buried to existing process where tracing product to the source could take multiple weeks here. You go see it on the took us a few seconds to find out that the strawberries were growing on to our church in Mexico and they will have instead on April 20 seventh. We can also see where they are on the map, where this or just check traffic going wait. So what else can you see you can actually see anything. As I do mention 400000 people die every here from food related dishes in addition to fist that also significant financial savings for other damn list and suppliers that's why we think that there is value proposition for everyone and the solution that you scientists double today is what our can social partners are going to use and I will call of light and with Um is to if all this solution and to ensure that it represents priorities of the industry and move do this by incorporating the on going suck leadership of this small group of industry and sciences and earlier actually this week ibm announced a collaboration with some of the world's largest food companies um we have large retailers, like walmart and kroger got large food suppliers like nestle uni lever Dole driscoll Tyson, as well as other large food companies like mclean and golden state foods and we wanna work with them to essentially Out how to enhance our current solution as well as how to shape the direction of the future, um feature solutions because if you think about it, it's not just about these 10 companies it's about everybody there's about 30000 retailers currently in the global food system is about more than a million global food suppliers 500 million farmers and if you think about it billions of food shoppers and we need to provide visibility to what everyone is eating. We need to provide essentially from farm to fork um at this point, we're gonna start to take a few more questions from from facebook, audience so we have a Don't question that um talks about who uses the food safety solution currently so you wanna tell you sure.
