Social media is a strategy not a tactic. It isn't something you do today for results tomorrow.
It takes time.
Your goal is to post content that is valuable to your audience (not to you) and establish yourself as an expert in your field.
If you are selling skincare -- your audience needs to view you as an expert in skincare....
If you are selling jewelry -- you need to establish yourself as a jewelry expert.
If you are selling fitness -- you need to show that you can help others get fit.
So, everyday you post an article about your topic (not an ad, an article). You engage in comments when they come and you keep finding new people.
Suddenly, people start seeing you differently. Because they see you differently, when the thought "I need to get a mother's day gift" comes into their mind they remember you and they reach out to you.
Those who reap the rewards of social media put the work into adding value to others and eventually those seeds grow up and the fruit is people reaching out to you (instead of you reaching out to others).
If you need sales today -- follow traditional means --- if you want sales to come to you then invest time now building an audience and giving them information they want and need.
