Our daughter visited ten different campuses from New York to California to Georgia, all of which she had evaluated ahead of time as possible schools to attend. ... In the end, the only school she wanted to attend was Iowa State. Husband and I talked to six other couples, friends and co-corkers of ours, who have children at ISU and they all raved at the wonderful experience their kids have had. Kids with engineering majors, math major, design majors, business major, it meant a lot to us to hear from their happy parents. We are excited to have a Cyclone in the family, ISU, here we come! How can you not control radical elements within your own leftist community? You let them control who can and can't speak on your campus? Yet another university that shows its true colors. This university administration is following in the footsteps of institutions such as DePaul that try to sabo...tage and censor any opinions that they don't agree with. Shame, places like this are supposed to be spaces in which ideas can be shared openly and freely, not spaces that restrict free speech because of the fear that someone's "feelings" may be hurt. I am enjoying a wonderful stay at ISU as visiting Scholar from Pakistan. Everyone here is so nice and helpful esp my supervisor(what a great person he is). Colo...rs of spring on campus and in Ames are owsum but Autumn colors are unforgettable.. Simply love them.Although dont have friends here for hangout and fun... ISU ♥. Ver más

My father was born shortly after WWII in Nazi Germany his older siblings often told me how it did feel when education stopped being the center of some of the Mo...st renowned colleges in the world... how the pride in people like Einstein diminished cause it didn't fit the political agenda... wake up cause u r heading that direction and it ain't Trump doing it ... get rid of those overly liberal professors ... you have a right to education not brainwashing ... it's a disgrace that the event was stopped because Iowa State is against freedom of speech... # EducationFirst Ver más

Gorgeous campus with so much history! Everything about the visit with our son was amazing! The staff was attentive and very organized. We were guided on a cam...pus tour that included lunch in one of the many student cafes. Although it was cafeteria style dining, it was not your typical cafeteria food. So many excellent food choices! At the conclusion of our day we met with student ambassadors and advisors who gave us one on one time to answer our many questions. Keep up the good work Iowa State!! They forced an event to be cancelled after administrators raised the security fee at the last minute, leaving student organizers no time to raise the required f...unds. This goes against Forsyth County v. Nationalist Movement, when the Supreme Court determined that government actors like public college or university administrators may not lawfully impose security fees based on their own subjective judgments about “the amount of hostility likely to be created by the speech based on its content.” Such fees amount to a tax on speech an administrator subjectively dislikes, or subjectively believes is likely to cause disruption or violence.

Maybe you should try not shutting down people who disagree with you. Ver más

ISU is attempting to curb free speech by extorting money from students (It's literally a criminal offense at this point. Extortion is illegal. So is breach of c...ontract), and claiming it's for security when they've made no attempt to actually hire any security at all for the event.

This will be brought to Mr Trump, the DOJ, and the Department of Education Secretary's attention on January 20th. You liberals using schools to line your own pockets are in for a rude awakening in 2017. Ver más

While I am not a student at this institution, I am shocked at the outright stupidity and lack of respect of the first amendment of the Constitution of the Unite...d States. I have been a fan of Milo for a long time and I remember the "day of infamy" that took place place at DePaul University. What happened to Milo was disgusting. Let me make myself clear. The first amendment protects even unpopular, offensive, and appalling speech. You can disagree with Milo's opinion all you like, but this does not justify the administration for screwing conservative groups on your campuses and robbing them of their invited guests. We do not care if salty people on your campuses can't stand Milo or are offended by him. This does not justify the administration in charging large security fees at the last minute to disrupt a planned event. I am not calling for massive riots or the resignation of any officials (yet) like those salty liberals do when things do not go their way, but I feel that the administration needs to do a bit of soul searching in how they feel about the concept of Free Speech, which is the corner stone of our Representative Constitutional Republic. Censorship isn't cool, and last time I checked, free speech is still a Constitutional right. This university is biased in favor of liberal ideology and perpetua...tes a hostile environment for conservative students. The left loves to preach about the importance of acceptance, tolerance and equality; but only towards people who agree with the rest of their inane opinions.

For any prospective students who happen to lean even slightly to the right: avoid this school like the plague, you are not wanted or welcome there, and the administration will do everything in its power to suppress your Constitutional rights. Ver más

Had to walk ages for parking, the reference library was substandard and didn't provide what I needed then when I returned to my car it had been keyed. Might as ...well label itself as "school of hard knocks" because as a university it left a pretty bad taste in my mouth. Seen better run community colleges. Ver más

I had a great time revisiting campus with my niece. It looks a lot like I remember when graduating in 2006 but love some of the updates they have done-- state gym remodel etc. Beautiful campus and everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcome. It still feels like "home".

Iowa Master Gardeners met on campus last Saturday for our day-long class. We had various seminars throughout the day: botany--dissecting flowers; growing media ...choices (pros/cons of each); tour of green houses; insect identification; and plant pathology. Our oldest son graduated from Iowa State and our youngest son is a junior at Iowa State now. We all love this university. The campus is one of the most beautiful campuses we have seen.

Any school that suppresses the first amendment right to freedom of speech needs all its state and federal funding pulled. I would also advise all alumni to cut off funding till the administration responsible for blocking conservative speakers be fired.

Watching my daughter's growth makes me proud of her and confident in her choice of schools. Forward thinking and focused on academia. A lot of money is invested in student success and specifically engineering programs. It's a win. (And this campus is both historic and beautiful )
