We're extending the fall drive one week due to scheduling conflicts during tomorrow's original delivery date. You have an extra week if you would still like to participate! The flyer still states the 30th as the deadline, but it will actually be October 7th now.
In case you missed it (or just want a feel-good moment), here's the story of how it all started. ❤
As you make your lists and run your errands this weekend, please consider picking up a new package of socks or a new toothbrush, etc. If you're cleaning out your closets, basements, garages, give Isaiah a call. As always, thanks for your support!
Straight from the man... He said "thank you" at the end, but it got cut off before his little brother ran through. Also, this is an ongoing situation which is expected to last approximately 6 to 12 months. Contact 785-633-6729 for more info. Texts are fine. Thank you!
Hi, all! Isaiah is on another mission! These seven children are in need. They are being cared for by two of their older family members. Please contact 785-633-6729 to coordinate drop-off. Thanks in advance for your help!
Isaiah donated some of his collection from you all to the Topeka Shawnee County Homeless Task Force for the 2015 Point in Time Count back in January. He received this certificate in the mail today.
One of the most beautiful things about Isaiah's Mission is that it has inspired people to donate to the Mission throughout the year. Isaiah is committed to conducting two or three drives a year, but remember the TRM is in need ALL YEAR ROUND, and some of those needs change seasonally. You can check out their web site (follow the story below) for a current list of needs.
People Around The World Are Placing Scarves In Public For Those Who Need To Stay Warm This Winter
A couple in Wilmington, North Carolina, noticed scarves and ha...ts placed around various poles, light posts, and fire hydrants. Upon closer inspection, they were blown away by the kindness of strangers.
The notes read:
"AM NOT LOST! If you need this to stay warm, then please take it. It is yours. Be warm, and do something to help someone else today if you can."
A similar photo was shared from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Another one found in Ottawa, Canada. And more in Norway.
To help a friend is really good. To help yourself is also really good. To help a stranger is the very best." ~ Art Hochberg.
I had another request today for warm clothing items as volunteers are preparing for the annual "point in time" count of homeless in Shawnee County. There are an estimated 300-400 homeless individuals living in shelters, safe havens/transitional housing, or on the streets in Shawnee Co. (Last year's total was 416.) On January 28th, 2015, volunteers will go out into Shawnee County with two things: a questionnaire and a bag containing toiletries and a cold weather item. Voluntee...rs are still collecting items to be used in the bags which will be distributed to the homeless during the count. This is an amazing program which helps qualify Shawnee County for a significant grant from HUD which helps provide services for those in need. WE ARE IN DESPERATE NEED OF COLD WEATHER ITEMS. PLEASE CALL OR TEXT 785-633-6729 OR REPLY TO THIS POST TO ARRANGE A DROP-OFF/PICK-UP. THANK YOU!
