Israel in PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics
Voice of Israel in Persian - Building Bridges Through Radio Broadcasts
Yesterday, we marked the International Holocaust Remembrance Day at the Yehudi Menuhin Forum in Bern, welcoming a large audience including Holocaust survivors, many Ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps, officials, members of the Jewish and Christian communities and many more. The President of the Swiss National Council NC de Buman, the Chair of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance - IHRA Ambassador Bättig, the President of SIG Schweizerischer Israelitischer Gemeindebund Dr. Winter, US Ambassador McMullen, German Ambassador Riedel and Polish Ambassador Kumoch gave important and meaningful speeches. Rabbi Polnauer from the Jewish community in Bern delivered the prayers and the Berner Klezmer band played beautiful musical pieces. Mr. Gabor Hirsch, a Holocaust survivor from Auschwitz-Birkenau, gave a personal and deeply moving testimony of his horrific experience in the Nazi concentration death camp. Ambassador of Israel Keidar, announced the exhibition BEYOND DUTY on Diplomats recognized as Righteous Among the Nations for saving Jews during the Holocaust. The exhibition was prepared by Yad Vashem and the Israeli Foreign ministry. It was on display at the Yehudi Menuhin Forum for one day and will be presented from 31/1 to 10/2 at the Polit-Forum Käfigturm in Bern. The Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs partnered closely with the Embassy of Israel as well as with the embassies of the US and Poland, which co-sponsored and supported this event. We would like, once more, to thank the embassies and organizations that gave their patronage.

Yesterday's concert was wonderful.
Ambassador Jacob Keidar and his wife were at the concert in Bern last night and would like to thank David Greilsammer, the conductor, and pianist Yaron Herman, the other soloists and the team of the Geneva Camerata for a magical evening. The music of the tour "Classical & Jazz Madness: sounds of transformation" went straight to the heart.

Israel's Persian-speaking radio station was formed in 1956 to create ties with Persian speaking people across non-Arab Muslim world, providing a powerful example of radio's role as a true bridge-builder between cultures. Happy #WorldRadioDay📻 from Israel!
