On Wednesday and Thursday, I participated in hearings with the Secre...tary of Defense Mark Esper, Secretary of the Navy Thomas Modly, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley, and the top officers in the Navy and Marine Corps. These annual hearings provide the Armed Services Committee with the opportunity to press senior officials on how they will achieve important goals, such as fighting sexual harassment and assault, reducing waste in military contracting, and keeping our nation safe, in the next year.
In addition to addressing those issues, I also asked Secretary Esper for an update on the welfare of the servicemembers who suffered brain injuries following Iran’s ballistic missile strike in Iraq. I was glad to hear that most of those affected are recovering, but it was extremely troubling to learn that the military did not plan better for this foreseeable issue.
I also asked Navy Secretary Modly to explain why he appointed a man who had been repeatedly accused of sexual harassment to a senior leadership position, and why he only investigated those claims after receiving a letter from my office. See More

From what I have learned today, it is important to stay home if you'...re sick with cold or flu symptoms, wash your hands frequently for 20 seconds, don’t touch your face, and stay away from anyone with a respiratory illness. SARS infected 8,000 people over 8 months. Coronavirus has infected 8,000 in just a couple weeks.
