"The Giver of Gifts" mixed media sculpture approximately 2 ft tall. By the look on his face he has either been caught in the act of delivering his special gift or he is unsure of what her reaction will be. I love the feet on this coffee pot, I knew right away that it was to be a steed of some strange kind!
This commission was to create a memorial sculpture entitled "Danielle's Tree" . The tree is in memory of Danielle and many others in the Kingston area who have lost their lives to drug related causes.
The sculpture features a life cast of Danielle's cousin. It stands eight feet tall by 11 feet long and is created from white cedar driftwood. It will have metal leaves added to the branches which will be engraved with the names of those who have lost their lives.
Because of ...its importance I have included the pictures from start to finish on this piece despite the picture quality. "Danielle's Tree" stands in the Lobby of a health centre , I found it very difficult with lighting and angles to get photos that I liked but I hope you can sense the feel and emotion of the sculpture .
Her face looks downward in repose. Subtle tears flow from her eyes. An unseen wind blows her hair back along the wall breaking off into pieces becoming birds. To me the birds symbolize transformation, the beginning of a journey.
Those who have commissioned me to create this sculpture have suffered far beyond my understanding. I found it to be a great honour and privilege to create "Danielle's Tree" . It is my hope that it helps to create awareness and compassion for such a daunting crisis.
There are only a couple of spaces left in the next sculpting
