David Hockney painting the Piccadilly Circus tube poster - requested by Jon Coffee
A very limited, signed print of this piece is available with all profit going to Outside In - a charity providing development, exhibitions and training for artists outside the established art world - Edit: now sold out
I know enough of Hockney's work to get the references... all your stuff is really good, but you've excelled yourself here... I wonder if the great man himself might get to see this...?
I like to think of this as a cutting bit of satire on the government handing out contracts to their mates; ridiculous sums paid for sub-par services (see Hancock and the PPE, the ferry contract for a company with no ships)
I like to think this so as not to have my view of an artist who has created some beautiful pieces in his life tainted by this terrible scrawl for a London tube station.
My sister curated the Van Gogh exhibition at the Tate Gallery. Just got her this for her bathroom. She'll either love or hate it. Art personified. Perfect. Thanks Jim.
