I'm sitting here in the computer lab at the school, here in the village, trying to update things....and keep my life on track lol. Hi everyone! So - I know it's been a while...
From a music standpoint, I still have yet to find an affordable guitar here in Namibia. BUT, I did just get back from the beach at Swakopmund, and purchased a little instrument used by African tribes, called a Kalimba, or thumb piano - is the modern version of a Mbira - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mbira or google it sometime!). My brothers and niece, ...here at the homestead, are enjoying playing with it.....
Also, check out Namibian music when you get a chance! I call it "Island Music", but they call it Namibian house music...either way, it's very happy music that I get to listen to everyday! I'll post some of my favs soon...but check out Exit, Gazza and Acon - just to name a few!
