Our expectations for justice certainly do not end here. We expect the conviction and proper sentencing of Canyon Boykin, as well, for unlawfully taking Ricky away from his daughter and family.

This grand jury indictment of ex-officer Canyon Boykin proves to us all that Ricky Ball's family is worthy of our assistance in this time of pain and distress for them. We extend great thanks to everyone for being our companions on this journey of justice and for all of the support you have provided thus far.

Justice for Ricky Ball is not just a slogan. It is our Mission. We, the People of this community, love our children. We Expect for them the same Rights, Immunities and Privileges as provided to the most protected children in our county, state and Nation.

We, the People of Columbus, MS have united our combined strengths to ensure justice is served in honor of Ricky Ball's life. We fully understand the political climate of the day related to punishing officers (in this case ex-officer) properly when they have abused the use of deadly force. It is going to take a fiery will and commitment to justice from the People and judicial officials to overcome the general complacency oftentimes related to punishing police officers and ex-officers who act unlawfully.

The gun and badge give a person an extremely high level of power. What should also come with that high level of power is a high level of punishment and accountability when the power of the gun and badge is abused.

Good police officers are always appreciated and are a necessary element of governments around the nation; however, criminally-minded persons using the gun and badge to commit murder are a national security threat that creates instability in any civilized government and society.
