Snow this morning, snow showers and possible thunder this afternoon. 1-5” in the Treasure Valley, lighter in the south, heavier toward the foothills. Another storm moves in Sunday night into Monday morning with another inch or two in the valley. Clear and cold Monday night and Tuesday, then unsettled again heading into March. Winter is still with us!
We’ll be heading back into winter weather for the rest of the holiday weekend. A cold front will move across southwest Idaho later today and tonight. Snow will increase in the mountains, with 2-6” up to 6000’, and 8-12” or more above that. For the Treasure Valley, mainly rain showers and breezy today, then rain and snow showers tomorrow. Much colder through early next week, the coldest weather since December in what has been a fairly mild winter so far.
Lunch for Literacy for the Learning Lab. Nice spread, lots of great people, and the guest speaker is one of my favorite authors, Camron Wright. If you haven’t read “The Rent Collector” or “The Orphan Keeper”, I strongly recommend both books.
Too many clouds this evening to see the Full Blue Super Moon rise, although it’s been peeking through the clouds as it gets higher. Blue cuz it’s the second full moon this month, and Super cuz it’s extra bright. Now we have a total lunar eclipse early in the morning (Blood Moon cuz of the reddish color). It peaks between 6 & 7 AM. And you don’t need special glasses!
Snow has been falling in the Treasure Valley this morning, but hasn’t been sticking much, and is already starting to change to rain in some places. Near 40 today but near 50 Sunday & Monday. Several inches of snow in the mountains. Perfect conditions for McCall Winter Carnival!
So how did you spend your morning? I spent mine in the company of some local and world renown jazz greats interviewing them for Boise Music Week’s upcoming 100th anniversary. With Kevin Kirk, Curtis Stigers, former Gov. Phil Batt, Billy Mitchell & Bill Cope.
Rain and snow in the Treasure Valley this morning, but roads are mainly just wet. Snow levels are near 3000 feet. Eastward towards Mtn. Home and the Magic Valley snow is falling and may leave 1-3” there and in the foothills, mountains 2-4” and 6”+ in higher elevations. Becoming partly cloudy later today and tonight. More valley rain/snow and mountain snow for much of the week.
We have a cool but dry weekend shaping up. Another storm comes in Sunday night with some rain and snow in the valley and 2-6” of snow at the ski resorts. More stormy weather later in the week.
We hit a record 58 degrees in Boise yesterday. But a cold front moved through with more than 1/3” of rain and several inches of snow in the mountains. Roads are wet this morning, but the rain is winding down. Highs today in the low 40’s.
Dense fog around the Treasure Valley this morning. But it will lift soon and we’ll be warm today and tomorrow - near record highs in the 50’s! Winter returns Friday with colder, snowy conditions.
