The broken slab repairs on I 24 are extremely rough and uneven. I would hate to ride over them on a motor cycle I hope you are going to make the contractor come back and smooth them up

The state and county rds surrounding my immediate area have been left to fend for themselves through a few snows the past few yrs. mostly untouched...this is well travelled rds that are only cleared b...y the sun & temps...or a Good Samaritan using a tractor.
while little dead end rds have been cleared and/or state/county employee and relatives rds are cleared early into the weather system ..most the first morning.
Many of us are very frustrated by the politics of this mess.

The SAFE Patrol is an amazing service that our state provides that I didn't know about, and I'm assuming many don't know about. Plus, when our government (even state government) does something RIGHT, ...I think it needs to be acknowledged. Thank you KTC!!!

I suggest everyone program this number in your cell phones ... 877-367-5982 ... It's the number for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's SAFE Patrol program. It is a FREE service to help motorists on Kentucky interstates and parkways ... Today I had a flat tire (blow out) on I-24. I called my mom to ask who I should call to change it. She had seen the SAFE trucks on the highway and had written the number down that was on the trucks in case she ever needed their service. Little did we know when I called that it was a free service. They will provide gasoline, oil, add air to tires, change flat tires, provide a jump for dead batteries, and other minor automotive repairs. You only would have to pay a fee if they have to call a wrecker for you.

Thank you again, KTC. You saved my butt today.

Please put flag gets at the bridge during high traffic times like 6am - 8am and again from 4pm - 6pm. I waited for over 45 minutes tonight to cross the bridge. I know the one lane is temporary but it ...would help with the traffic jams . See More

Keith, is the heat the reason the 60E paving project in Crittenden Co. was suspended? They made a bad road much worse and then looks like they have pulled all the equipment off of the site?

@Danny: The paving on US 60/Sturgis Road in Crittenden County East of Marion has been delayed by a mechanical problem at the asphalt mixing plant. I am told it should be fixed and work should resume... Monday or Tuesday. See More

UPDATE on New US 68/KY 80 Lake Barkley Bridge The new bridge is OPEN to 2-way traffic. Motorists are reminded to continue using caution as the bridge will continue to be an active work zone through this year for finish work along the new structure and start of demolition on the old structure. Here is a time-lapse of the first line of eastbound traffic crossing.
Here’s a trip across the New US 68/KY 80 Lake Barkley Bridge at Canton in Trigg County heading westbound into LBL. Two-way traffic is running on what will eventually be the eastbound lanes of the new bridge. Moving traffic to the new bridge allows the contractor to start removing the concrete deck from the old bridge to be ready for explosive demolition of the steel truss sections by Late March or sometime in April.
