While certainly not an historian, I do find history fascinating and think it important to study. Especially when it comes in such tangible form as the Nina and the Pinta replicas that visited Traverse City for a few days. These ships have multi-faceted meaning and symbolism and we should understand their significance with all aspects of the good, the neutral and the bad that they wrought. Hopefully, these pix will inspire the viewer to learn of the full impact of their controversial voyages . . . in both their time under Spain of the 1490’s and our view shaped over the years since.
