Before this weekend most of us probably had no idea how many right wing ‘patriots’ are spending all their free time on the coasts of Kent, patrolling and chasing migrants. It just seemed like something they did from time to time for a stunt... but there are actually several ever-growing cults on YouTube and other platforms who have thousands watching their live streams as they chase dinghies, expressing their racist lies and fear provoking invective to an enthralled audience ...- who also donate hard cash.
Some of these ‘charismatic’ grifters are veterans, some fascists, some total nut jobs. They all seem to think Boris is a Marxist and the police are paid actors. The far right and conspiracy theory and a society full of fear are a scary mix.
Imagine struggling over here on a boat to be intimidated and chased about by one of these fuckwits.
Luckily about 150 anti-racists gathered peacefully to express solidarity at the same time as their ‘demo’ - which was basically just fash fighting each other and the police. But these guys feel like they’re onto something. And something needs to be done. If/when they call another demo, we need to be there.
