I got my first dog there in the 90s as a kid she did awesome. Lived about 15 more years and died of old age. I own my home have a large yard and work the opposite shifts as my husband so one of us is ...always home. We’ve applied numerous times and never heard back or you all were waiting for more applicatio
ns. I waited over a year and finally got a puppy from Craigslist . I would have rather saved one.
We went to the Kenton County Animal Shelter looking for a new family dog. The staff was very welcoming and very caring. They know all of their animals by names and it is a very clean environmen
t. We l...ooked at two different dogs and found the perfect little girl named Brownie and we got to take her right home. Was very happy with the experience and would recommend this shelter to anyone looking for a new animal.
Adopted our beautiful kitty Klaus today. They were so nice and helpful. I was taught to give a pill to a cat by an employee, so happy she was able to show me that! They werent lying when they said how... scared Klaus is, he is still hiding 5 hours later but we're very excited to help him transition
into his forever home!

It’s a very clean shelter, but from when I was there, they were very judgmental
and rude toward my husband and I. And their policy of only being able to adopt at 21 is pathetic. They either need bette...r and friendlier staff, or a better policy to HELP these animals instead of caring about money and appearance more.
Just adopted a new family member and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I thought the facility was very clean and well maintained
, the animals were all well taken care of and appeared to be in g...ood health.
I had a great experience
. We adopted 2 dogs, Compass and Coco, from here yesterday. The animals are well taken care of. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The building was clean and odor free. I ...will definitely recommend KCAS to my friends and family if they are looking to adopt or surrender a pet.
I've been a foster mom for Kenton County for going on 3 years. I've never met a more compassion
ate and dedicated staff. Keep being amazing!!
We just adopted CJ. We love him so much. He likes laying by the balcony window. He loves being petted. He is such a good sweet cat. And we're so blessed to have him. Thank you so much!
We had such a great experience
with this shelter. Our friend found a dog in her yard and she took it to the shelter. She posted a picture of it on Facebook and we fell in love with the dog. We live in... Toledo, Ohio so we couldn't just run over to the shelter. We worked with the shelter for a week because there is a 5 day hold on animals. They needed to assess him, neuter him and get him all set with his vaccinatio ns. They were so easy to work with. We made the drive yesterday, there and back, without any issues. Max is happy and adjusting to his new home. We are very thankful to everyone at the shelter, especially Ella, for all of their assistance .
Having found three of our fur kids out of this shelter, I can say I am thoroughly
happy with the conditions the pets are kept in, the staff is friendly, helpful, and genuinely wants to help you make a... match. The building and grounds are clean and inviting. The applicatio n process is simple and straight forward. If Kenton county did not have a six animal limit, our family would be more than happy to take in more. I would recommend ANY Kenton county resident to show up and find a new family member.
I would give this shelter a million stars if I could. We we went in Friday December 30th for a second time to look at available Dogs. We were lucky enough to leave that day with Marble, now Marvel (Ma...rv for short). All of the staff members were excellent and we could tell how much time they spent individual
ly with our sweet boy. Thank you Kenton County Animal Shelter for giving us the gift of a new dog! Marvel is the perfect fit for us and our life style. We couldn't be more in love with him. We promise to send updates on our travels and adventures this summer with Marv.

They lie to people, they have different policies for adoption based off breed of animal. How can you have one family able to adopt a dog that very day but tell the person behind them that the dog they... want cant be adopted that day cause you want more applicatio
ns for it first and because its a certain breed? The lady behind the counter was very rude to my family when we asked valid questions. We will never come here again and strongly suggest no one else going to them for a pet.

First time I myself have personally
adopted from a shelter. I was looking at Kittens! Very friendly staff, very clean facility, filled out the adoption applicatio n, was having trouble finding records ...on my Yorkshire Terrier I have now (confirmin g he had utd rabies vac) instead of giving up the woman at the desk just kept looking FINALLY found the record (No fault of hers what so ever) I'm SO glad she managed to find them instead of saying welp too bad. After that everything was a go, got a call this morning saying I could come pick up a Kitty. I'm now the proud owner of a sweet little guy named Perry :-) I Highly recommend KCAS!
My fiancé got my beautiful Duchess here last week for $40. She is a beautiful 4 year old Himalayan with bright blue eyes and absolutely
loves cuddles. My fiancé says the staff was nice. They called ou...r landlord to make sure pets were allowed, which I appreciate because that just proves that they go through a meticulous process to make sure their animals are going to their furever homes. Duchess is just the sweetest girl and I couldn't have asked for a better cat. Whoever decided to give her up lost out big time.
It was very clean. The animal's looked like they have been very well taken care of. We adopted a beautiful black and white cat.. Very happy with the whole experience
Si has been working with Koking K9 Training and has made significant process! He's now ready to find his forever home. Check out the video of him below to learn more about this big, sweet guy. Si is heart worm positive and the cost of his treatment is around $800. If you are able to help, please contact us at 356-7400 and ask to speak with our Director Elizabeth Cochran or Sarah Gross.
