I want people around the country to understand why we need to expose what he is doing. He cannot get a pass and we just say this is all Trump. Somebody said Trump might be the criminal on some things but MacConnell has been the getaway driver. >> Two peas in a pod. >> I know we are organizing together. I didn’t tell you this before. Guess what county I was raised in? >> Martin County. Did you hear that? Martin County, North Carolina. So we have Martin and that is my point. We are connected in ways we don’t realize and that is a great fear of the power structure. They want us to think we are weak. We are good together. We have tremendous power. We have to run. We only have one hour. But remember, always together. One step forward. I’m going to message you in a bit. We have a song. We do music for every part of our movement. This brother said something in. Can we pull that piece up? That will get us out of here. >> Okay. The Postal Service. >> This is bad news. >> He did it in April. Okay. Thank you. >> [ Music ] [ Music ] [ Music ] [ Music ] [ Music ] [ Music ] [ Music ] [ Music ] [ Music ] >> That was a great song. It was done in April. I want to come back to close out in some ways. We have two friends, two people. The first one is Mary Kay who will take a couple of minutes and then we will go straight to our special guest, the Reverend, Jesse Jackson. It will be a good surprise for him what were going to do. Then Mary Henry is on every Wednesday. We are letting home care workers, those who have been telling their truth and organizing. I invited her to come on. She is here today with Sarah. You can trust her. She is a warrior. She is a fighter. She was there when other people said it didn’t make sense. I thank God for her. She is working in so many ways. You can trust her. If she says she is with you, she is. You don’t have to wonder. Thank you so much for joining us on the March on MacConnell. Sarah, where you? >> I will let you handle it from here . >> Thank you so much Reverend Barber. We are proud to stand with the poor People’s campaign and call for moral revival. We are delighted to be in such great company today because we agree , there has to be a moral Monday March on MacConnell and his meanness towards everyone in this country. The mayhem he is trying to create to distract us from saving the post office and making sure we turn out to vote and the misery he is inflecting on working and poor people and low income communities by not taking action and doing his job. That is why I am proud to be joined by Sarah Farrington. She is a leader in raise up North Carolina. We wanted to share Sarah’s story. She is speaking for millions of working people earning less than $15 per hour and trying to stitch together a living while MacConnell sits on his hand and does not take action which is morally bankrupt and totally wrong and we are going to keep mobilizing . We will organize the vote and keep marching with each one of you until we make this country the country our children deserve. Sarah? >> Just before Sarah you said if you are concerned about America put away this policy stuff and they could shut all this down. They could shut everything down. If they came together. Instead, he chooses, we cannot let them be separate from Trump. If we talk about when we have to talk about the other. >> Hello. How are you? >> Thank you for having me today. So I want to say a few things in thank you so much. My name is Sarah Farrington. So during the pandemic I worked as a server making $3.10 per hour plus tips. I never had six sick days or healthcare. I never had [ inaudible ]. My hours were drastically cut. One day a week to nothing and now I rely on a small unemployment check. $170 per week. Have sick children and other children out of work. I have a big financial strain. They don’t care. I rely on that and through all this, we are still working. I have gone homeless before I was working at the Waffle House. I pulled myself out of that and now I don’t want to go back to that. Especially in the South , we need to demand union rights for all workers. This is how we can build the power and combat this raises a man make our jobs better in the long term. We have to be with the community or part of the community for the community to build it. We need to organize and go on strike. Millions of essential workers and newly unemployed workers need help fighting it. Millions are not getting it. We need the Senate to pass the heroes acted now. We need that to include hazard pay, proper PPE. Extend the unemployment. We need it. We don’t want a handout, we need help. I am speaking for millions of people. Families that I know and don’t know. Get together, organize, keep fighting. We need to have that past now. >> And when Thomas said he was the grim reaper he said I will stop if I am the last man standing. He renamed his name he named he named himself the grim reaper and he is living that out. We have to challenge that and we have to have massive engagement and shutdown phones as a sign of not going anywhere. Vet register to vote and know that people hold the power. We have done the data. You don’t even need 20% increase. 19% in any state. In most states 10% will do it. If you expand the electorate, we win. Expand the consciousness of the people and we win. The power is with us. Today when you’re calling in, don’t just call in then call others and mobilize and organize and register to vote and get people out and say no one is going to stop us. One of the things we learned from the Reverend Jackson about changing others is about fighting. You fight for what is right before election day. You fight on election day and you fight after election day. What you know is if you don’t fight you will never win. We are asking Reverend Jackson to come on and let us ask him a couple questions. Number one, we keep hearing even today, President Trump was talking about before covert and everything was fine and then things were terrible after covert. I know the Reverend can unpack that for us. has exposed the pan demonic. That is not playing. And then this post office business and the business of voting and why they are afraid. You called it a long time ago, the rainbow. Why are they afraid of this and if they are that afraid, why do we keep doing that. Thank you for joining us today. The floor is yours. >> Well thank you. [ inaudible ] he said we have poverty. We are working for people. Last year [ inaudible ] going to Washington. He was [ inaudible ] I want to thank Mary Jane. There is no other person like Mary Jane. We We thank you and we love you. Let me tell you about Kentucky. The working poor people is a foundation. In coal mines people have black lung disease today. The coal miners and chemical workers from Kentucky, when the foundation ships. People live in a 20 story penthouse building and a strong wind came along, those in the penthouse would be upset at the foundation, everybody would be upset. If we change our mind, the whole world changes. I was talking to somebody from Kentucky last year and I heard [ inaudible ] don’t be fooled by his foolishness. We have the power to change our minds. [ inaudible ] the mine workers in Kentucky were being talked about. They would not let them play. They came together. When Kentucky plays a basketball game, what makes them so strong ? We can make it if we change our minds. This is the hardest headed full working in Kentucky. Just devote. In 1965 [ inaudible ] and Soma, Blacks could vote for the first time. We changed. The numbers were right. As a coalition, red yellow black , brown and white. You can resent or resist. We should not adjust. We should resist. millions. People call my name and see me in different ways or to submit is wicked and weak. [ inaudible ] more white people are coming to Kentucky but we against the post office being fair and [ inaudible ] why is he against the lynching deal and working poor people ? We must do better. It is healing time. If we can vote with our hopes, not our fears, we will win. not our fears, we will win. I love you guys. >> Reverend Jackson, we love you . You are so right. 112 block with economic injustice. You have to talk about the death of George Floyd and all of them, the death they came from police that use their power , the power that we give them and then look at the definition in all these other public policies. You block healthcare and people die. When you block living wages, people die. When you don’t take care of a coal miner they die. >> A coal miner today dies every six hours. You should not be working in unsecured minds you deserve better. You are God’s child. That makes a world of difference. >> That is right. I want to play something now that is a surprise to you. We said 700 people were dying a day from poverty. In the name of those who have died because of these possibilities we’re going to fight and win and change this country and go to a third reconstruction. It is something we have to do to honor those that have gone on before. Reverend Jackson, you said some things in 1984 that are as relevant today as they were then. We wish people would be able to understand this. I was a senior in college and I was there and I remember watching this speech that night. I wanted America to be reminded of what you laid out then and how it is so necessary that we hear the same marching orders today. Roll tape, if you would. >> We are reminded that we live in a great nation, and we do. It can be greater still. There is a new definition of greatness. It must go from the manger. We should not be [ inaudible ]. We must measure greatness. The nation is in recovery. Those 90,000 corporations that made a profit last year but paid no federal taxes are recovering. 7000 military contractors who benefited with a military budget are recovering. Big corporations and rich individuals received a three year tax cut from Reagan. Rising tides, particularly those stuck in the bottom for the boat stuck at the bottom has a misery index. This administration has made life more miserable for the poor. His attitude has been contemptuous. He has been cruel and unfair to working people. They must be held accountable in November by increasing infant mortality among the poor . One of the great cities , Detroit, babies die at the same rate as Hon Doris . This administration must be held accountable for policies that contribute to this. 34 million people are in poverty. 15% of the nation, 23 million are white, 11 million black and Hispanic and others, mostly women and children . By the end of this year there will be 41 million people in poverty . We cannot stand by. We must fight for change now. >> I daresay, if we walk away from this liberalism and recapture that spirit , they did not follow that. If we follow that, even today, there is something happening and we can bring people together and the demographics show what we have always known. Poor and low income people hook with their allies and can shift but they have to hear the message. We are not the bottom, we are the foundation. >> That’s right. The foundation for everything. Pharaoh’s army could not move without the foundation. I love you so much. I love you so much. >> Thank you so much. Aren’t you glad he was able to join us? I want to -- amen. >> We need your support. Rainbow push.org. We need your support. We are working around . We are going to win this battle. >> Yes. He was with us from the beginning. He said I will be there so people will know it is connected to what was and what is going to be. Thank you so much, Reverend Jackson. God bless you . I love you. >> Respond quickly from Kentucky. Is she on? Okay Pam, whoever it is. >> I am still stuck on that. We have to fight that. How old was I then ? I was 21 years old when I heard that speech I had not even graduated from college. It is amazing. That is the blueprint. If you go back to King and the prophets, it is about us continuing to say to America, why don’t you listen? >> If they don’t listen we have to make them listen. We are the foundation and we can shift the direction of this nation so why do people need to call today? Thank you. Those were very moving words. I was taken back, I marched with Reverend Jackson outside of Atlanta, Georgia. I was paying attention to those numbers of how many people were poor and compared them to the numbers today and we appreciate the poor People’s campaign and being a part of it . We welcome the solidarity from across the country. We need people to call in . Mayhem meanness and misery are the right words for McConnell’s policies that are hurting us and the message of how he is suppressing the vote and stopping stimulus we are echoing across the state. Call that number on your screen. Let him know. We have one Senator saying, you said the post office should only be there for rural people. We have another Senator [ inaudible ] . Call, stay tuned, call, call again and Kentucky has a request for an absentee ballot, that open today. You can start requesting your ballot to vote in this general election. Thank you everybody. >> Thank you. We are going to have links next time. I think we still have it where people can register to vote here or click and go and we have a link. This is a full-service, one stop service. If you call in today call 10 other people and tell them. Make sure they are registered to vote. We are not even voting for personality. We are voting to say we are going to be in the battle and we will be her after the ballot box. It has to be that way. Changes right at our fingertips. It is so possible. We have to make sure that people understand that you are not going to ignore us. Next week I will ask Ms. about pessimism. We won’t do that this time. Look, we have our new national field director for religious affairs on. We have that bad sister from Mississippi. ICU with those bad glasses on. She is down in Mississippi. Danielle Holmes. Don’t mess with her. I want them to take about 90 seconds and say what you need to say to America about McConnell. Shot out to the people that you know why they need to call today and tomorrow and voting in the days to come. Talk to us. >> >> Yes. >> Yes. What is happening in one state affects us all. We know it is not just one state. We are one body . We have to band together. If we cannot vote -- that is a trickery. They say the mail box is taken away and a couple of machines have been shut down, don’t let them fool you. That will impact this year. If we cannot vote by mail, where to our ballots go. If we can’t go out because of a pandemic how do we pack cast our vote. We have been dealing with a pandemic and pantomime X. In California we have wildfires throughout the entire state. I’ve been sitting in the house because of stay-at-home orders and because the air quality is so bad we can’t go out. We’re seeing:. It is not just one issue. Racism impacts poverty at which impacts the narrative, religious nationalism. It is all connected. We need to see these connections and band together and not just who but we need a policy platform for the people. That is why our platform is for the people and we will push it forward. I go that is right. That is our new national directive for religious affairs. Dr. Danielle Holmes. I love her. Thank you. Talk to us. >> Thank you. I am Danielle Holmes. We are living in the belly of the beast. Today we see what is playing out . Mississippi is directly impacted about what is going on. This U.S. sanction that is taking place, we have to demand it is stopped. Where this country is today, it should not be. You have 5,682,491 million cases of Coronavirus. You have 176,200 -- wait a minute. 1,000,233 cases in the county. In my county in Mississippi alone, it is a hotspot. That is the neighbor County to Holmes County which is the poorest county in the country. When you talk about mail and ballots and not having access to be able to mail in the balance, this will affect all of Mississippi. Go ahead. I just hollered. Ahead. >> It would impact the whole Mississippi Delta which is 82 counties. Beyond that there are other rural areas. One County was omitted from the census, a whole County that was not counted. They rely on the post office and mailing in ballots for the selection. I am lost for words because we have been fighting in Mississippi. We have taken this fight to the governor’s home and we are determine where ever he lays his head, that is where we are going. The same goes for Senator Roger Wicker. These two are on the side of McConnell and the Trump administration and foolishness. We refuse to remain silent in Mississippi. We are taking the heat to them and the Bible to them since they claim to be Christians. We want to know and we have pastors who will dissect that and what a Christian really is and the love . Here we are in Mississippi and in this country and we can flip the South and we can change this country. This is our goal in Mississippi and all across the South and this country. We must demand the change and we must demand it right now. >> And Danielle, say a word on this and then we will turn it over to Rob. This and, you mentioned your census. Your census is terrible in terms of policy. This is the reason. They don’t have the power he has. He is the only one they can hold it. We are trying to educate society. Should people from Mississippi call into McConnell even if they don’t live in his area or state? He has the power . Some people are texting and putting it in the chat. We know it is all of them. It is one of them that has the power to put a bill in a desk drawer and close it and it would never be discussed. Today is the 2617 day. Let me say that again. 2617 days. So 80 days he refused to pass the heroes Bill. He block that. For 2617 days McConnell alone , this grows out of the power given some officers the majority leader had is not bring up the voting rights act to be fixed. 2617 days. I want people to hear that. One man . That is why we cannot let him off the hook and you can never talk about Trump and not talk about McConnell. We have to call him and call people to be engaged. What else is in there? He said he was agreement reaper. When anything comes along he doesn’t like them and he puts it in a drawer and he has singular power to hold it there and never bring it to the floor. That is why we must challenge him. >> Everybody in Mississippi should be calling his office. His actions are impacting those in Mississippi from unemployment, the tax on the post office, people being evicted, you name it, everybody in Mississippi is being impacted and we should be after him. We should make it known that we are going after him. >> That is right. All over the South. Mary Kay, I want you to take this two minutes and take us out of here. We have been in these trenches. We keep hope alive. You always ask on Wednesdays, what gives you hope. It’s not symptom mentality. The hope we are talking about is the hope that looks at despair and goes right through it. It refuses to backup from it and never stops because we know the despair is not supposed to be. We will not be satisfied as long as we live. Talk about where you are today and the message you have and then if you take about two minutes , Rob, it is in your hands. This has been the national moral Monday March on Mitch McConnell. We are not marching because we are weak. We are mobilizing because we have power. We intend to get up and rise and use that power. and use that power. I go thank you my brother for pulling us together and creating this moral Monday March on McConnell and Trump. They need to do the right thing. What gives me hope is the fearlessness and courage of people that are watching us today and picking up the phone and taking action. Sarah is active in the fight for 15 year after year and never giving up hope that McDonald’s, Wendy’s and Burger King will sit at a bargaining table and and poverty work. They can do that. We can challenge the power and make clear that they are not standing for taxation without representation. You and Lizzie Harris give me hope to create an intersectional movement. It does it make one fight more important than another. We will unite the fight and hold out a vision that we have the power greater than the powers against us to make a just and fair world once and for all in our lifetime. Thank you so much. I go thank you. And always , thank you for being the cochair and copartner in making this happen. We talk like it is supposed to be on moral Monday. This is where we are focused. This is where we are clear. We want you to join in on walkout Wednesday. You can click and it will show you how to get to it on Wednesday. One thing we will not do, we are the sons and daughters of those who have fought and won before. Are fight for justice is not negotiable. If you thought that we were going to turn back now, you have another thought coming. It ain’t happening. We have too much power, too much potential, too much prayers, too much blood and suffering has been done. Now it is time for this major transformation and is going to happen. It will begin on our watch. Rob, you have it as we leave here today. God bless you. >> Thank you everyone for joining an amazing set of inspirational stories and testimonies. I hope you hurt there is no buddy like the union movement and Mary Kay. We thank you for joining us. We went from the Delta to East Kentucky to California to the rest of you, I don’t know where you are from. It was a beautiful thing to see. I hope people heard Reverend Jackson and he said we have three choices, adjust , resent or resist. We are not going to adjust to what is happening and we don’t have time to present all the time so the last thing we are left with is to resist. We thank God for the opportunity that we have been given to see each other each week. We will be back again next week on August 31. I have been told we might have a break after that so we can recharge for a massive moral Monday for September 14. We will go through the evening for a massive voting is power unleashed program where we get some powerful insight and teachings one the voting campaign we are giving right now and then we will come back on September 21. Is it okay to say what I’m about to say? >> That on the 21st the Kentucky poor People’s campaign is planning on caravan protest to each of Mitch McConnell’s six offices. He has six offices that are going and people are being evicted from their homes but he has six offices. He will get a visit. We will get live shots. We know that consistency is key. We are going to packing away at this and keep on with our target. and makes the calls. If you get the link, you will get a phone call from our service and they will connect you to Mitch McConnell’s office. You might get a busy signal but keep ongoing. We look forward to seeing you again next week. With that, we are going to close it out with Liz, do you have anything you want to add? >> Tell us something. >> We are altogether. All right. We will leave that with everybody has a right to live. >> [ Music ] [ Music ] [ Music ] [ Music ]
