What a privilege to present my friends (and employer!), Elizabeth Christian and Former Austin Mayor Bruce Todd, with Concordia University Texas Excellence in Leadership honors. They are truly excellent and have served as wonderful leaders in my personal and professional life. Congrats to you both!
Prayers of comfort and peace for my friends Zack Shields on FOX 7, his wife Julie, and their beautiful family. It's been a tough week, but please know that we're mourning right along side y'all.
A weather disaster hits home. As some of you know, my family was impacted by the Wimberley flood. My wife’s sister Laura, our nephew Andrew and niece Leighton w...ere taken from us by a 40 foot wall of water. This has been the worst week of our lives losing 3 people we loved so dearly. We will miss Laura’s compassionate and loving spirit. She was the life of the party and you always wanted to be around her because she gave out so much positive energy. She would do anything for you and she did everything for her children. They were her life and it brings us some comfort that she is with Andrew and Leighton in heaven. Andrew always went 100 mph with awesome energy. His laugh was so contagious. Leighton was the shy one but when she gave you a smile and a big hug it just melted your heart. Heaven has a new princess. Telling my boys what happened was the toughest thing my wife and I have ever done. They are still shocked and asking questions but my oldest has some comfort knowing the kids are with Aunt Laura and God. My family has a big void in our hearts right now but the outpouring of love and support is the only thing getting us through this devastating loss. Watching the news you see a lot of evil and violence going on the world but after seeing what is happening in Wimberley I know for a fact that there is so much good than evil in the world. The search operation going on right now has been unbelievable. There are over a thousand strangers coming in helping our family. This has been so uplifting to see everybody doing what they can to help bring home everyone. My family wants to send out a big thank you for all the love and support and we do appreciate all the thoughts and prayers. We will need more as time goes by as we mourn the loss of Laura, Andrew and Leighton. Please remember the other family members that have lost a loved one and keep praying for them also. We still have 3 missing so if you want to help with the search or send a donation to help the effort please check out www.wimberleytxrescue.com. Again, thank you for all the love and support and keep us in your prayers.
Happy Nurses Week- y'all are the "star at the top!" ...as a patient says in this video. I'm so proud to produce this video in honor of nurses everywhere!
