I am horribly neglectful of this page. I wonder if it's because it's only one narrow part of who I am, my work self, and therefore not as fun to use? Do other people with a personal page and a "business" page find it hard to motivate yourself to use your business page? Maybe if I was more personal here?
The solo performance workshop is starting up this Sunday evening in uptown Phoenix. It's a come-when-you-want, skip-when-you-want, pay-as-you-go model. (and it's very affordable) There are 8 participants so far. If you want to polish up a story for a storytelling event or create a solo show of any length, please let me know and I'll tell you how you can join us.
The Storytelling Workshop for older adults starts back up this Wednesday at 10:00 AM in Scottsdale. This has been a very gratifying and enjoyable workshop. If you know an older adult who would enjoy exploring memories and imagination to create new material that they will then perform, please, point them toward this workshop. It's very affordable, and it's appropriate for people at all experience levels. If you want more information, please drop me a note and I'd be happy to describe it to you.
If you have older friends in the Phoenix West Valley who are looking for a creative opportunity this fall, please share this article with them. We start a new session in Sun City next week.
A really fascinating story about Jewish Family & Children's Service's Creative Aging classes. The classes bring professional writers, musicians and other artis...ts together with senior adults interested in learning and creating.
For this article, we get to talk with Kim Porter, a local literary legend, and one student's incredible story of true love.
I feel really excited to say that my essay was an editor's pick to celebrate the best memoir stories of their first five years.
All I can ever think about when I am struggling with a writing project is "what kind of beautiful textile could I buy in the linens department of the Goodwill if I put my shoes on and left the house right now?"
What's your favorite self-destructive habit masquerading as a hobby?
I'm planning a writing field trip to an antique mall. We will split up, roam around the store, get ideas and write. Then afterward we will meet up at a cafe and read our pages (if we want) and get feedback (if we want). Who would like to do this?
A story I wrote was published on Narratively. I LOVE the art they put with it.
This Saturday at 1:00 PM come down to Changing Hands Bookstore in Downtown Phoenix, and hear a bunch of amazing writers read their short creative non-fiction. This is an annual event and the readers are always amazing! And it's FREE! (Plus, pretty sure you can buy wine and beer and drink it during the show!) Don't bring your kids because some of these readers might go inappropriate (like I plan to do.)
People who love stories, this event is SURE to inspire you.
This sounds amazing!
Great review from Publisher's Weekly for my book SIN BRAVELY: "Rowe’s fantastic book is a born-again version of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest complete with a ...Nurse Ratched analogue (the demanding, no-nonsense Bethanie). Not for the faint of heart, this is a cutting examination of Rowe’s spiritual evolution that plunges into the big questions with the fearlessness found in the most brilliant of comics."
It's now available for pre-order!!
