We’re just two weeks away from Pom Foundation’s 2nd Annual Benefit Dinner! Check out this snippet of our musicians rehearsing this afternoon. We’d like to give a big thank you to one of our Kinnaly guardians, Toan Viradet for opening up his beautiful new home to all 30+ of our students this afternoon for rehearsals! 💜💜💜

Q: Are there any additional fees for instruments or rentals?
A: Nope! Students may bring their own instruments OR use one of our instruments (very limited) to learn. We recommend each student having their own instrument so they may practice at home, but we understand that the Lao classical instruments are expensive and difficult to find. At this time we currently do not rent out or sell instruments as they're very expensive to purchase and ship from Laos. However, we are actively working to make this an option in the near future!

As a co-founder of Kinnaly, I truly believe in the work that we do in preserving, promoting, and transmitting our beautiful Lao culture to everyone around us. Especially the younger generations who le...arn about their heritage through the music, dance, and arts of Laos. See More

Q: Do you offer rolling-enrollment for Kinnaly classes?
A: We've recently changed our school calendar and do not offer rolling enrollment because we feel it negatively impacts learning. 📙 The first half of the year (January-March) we dedicate to learning the foundations of music and dance which prepares them for the second half of the year. The second half of the year (April-June) is our very busy performance season which requires students to be prepared to perform with limited rehearsal time. 🎵

Throwback to the 2010 International Lao New Year Festival in San Francisco! Do you recognize these faces? 3 of the 5 original Kinnaly ladies had the honor of welcoming and blessing guests for the evening reception. To this day, our students still wear these vintage pieces that belonged to Euay Pom (2nd photo) 💜💜💜

Pom Foundation added 3 new photosremembering Rowena Vongsady with Eric N Rowena Vongsady.

A few days ago we lost a remarkable woman and heaven gained an angel. Instead of crying, we want to celebrate the amazing woman she is. Rowena Vongsady was a Po...m Foundation Officer, Lao Summer Camp Program Co-Manager, parent to three beautiful Kinnaly Lao Traditional Music & Dance Troupe students, and a volunteer extraordinaire.

For over a decade she has helped to shape and mold our organization into what it is today. Her values of family and community resonates through all of us at Pom Foundation & Kinnaly. She was hardworking, resilient, passionate, and full of love for the families and children she worked with. She was the backbone to our Lao Summer Camp Program and poured her heart into everything that she did.

Her legacy will continue to live on through her three children and husband. We are so fortunate and honored to have known such a beautiful soul who has touched the hearts of everyone at Pom Foundation & Kinnaly. Our deepest condolences are with the Cabang and Vongsady families during this time. We send our love, thoughts, and prayers. #WengStrong
