It's fun to explore other cultures through food. This traditional Dutch comfort food dish, BOERENKOOL (farmer's cabbage) is a delicious way to do that. Tasty mashed potatoes with kale and sausages all get cooked in one pot. Quick and easy. And then, to add a unique and surprisingly delicious touch, you serve them with canned or stewed pears. The sweet pears, earthy kale-potatoes, and smoky, salty sausages all work together to make an irresistible flavour combination. Try a little kitchen-table travel to the Netherlands!

There are still some luscious B.C. peaches and California Pears around to make this amazing Peach-Pear Chutney. It's mild and just the right amount of sweet-tangy with a bit of mild heat. Complements all kinds of grilled or roasted meats, cheeses, charcuterie. It's a wonderful treat to open a jar of this once summer is a distant memory - brings back some sunshine!
