I’m making history in the city that made me. Never thought I’d be where I am today, in a million years. But not only have I arrived, I’m here to stay long after my bones crawl cold. There was a time when I didn’t see the mountains ahead of me. Now I see them, and I see that they were always there. I know that moments like last night will outlive both you and me. Real writers should be the last ones to fear death, because in the words of Toni Morrison, “We die. That may be the meaning of life. But we do language. Love y’all 🌹📚 #Repost @dptheemcee with @get_repost ・・・ As the Arts Integration Coach and Art Instructor at Banneker Blake Academy it is my job to make sure that the scholars get exposed to not just painting and drawing but also the art of Literacy. Our scholars at #BannekerBlakeAcademy deserve an opportunity to be successful. Help us accomplish that goal by supporting our Literacy and Entrepreneurship Club (link in the bio). The goal is to bring reading and ownership to our scholars. Exposing them to books that highlight the reality that they live everyday while also bringing in local entrepreneurs that can expose scholars to the different aspects of business.

This weekend I made a tv appearance on RT America Watching The Hawks I put vast amount of time and effort into my art, and I invest that same energy into teaching students creative writing and poetry. My teachings make people understand the importance of literacy and critical thinking, which leads to effective decision making. Note: this is not a one size fit all solution, but I do believe that children who do live in poverty will have a better chance at maneuvering through the systemic oppression if they attain critical thinking skills. Tomorrow it will be my honor to introduce my mentor and big brother Dwight Watkins at his book release. I was there when he came up with the idea for this proje...ct, all the way until the final draft was sent to the printer. I’m proud of this man beyond measures and the doors he’s opening up for young Black artists like myself. Yes he donated over 1,000 copies of this new book to Baltimore City schools, however, his contributions to the world stretch way beyond the classroom. One of the best writers of our generation will be in OUR city tomorrow night at 7pm, so I’ll see y’all at Union Baptist Church🙏🏾 #WeSpeakForOurselves 📚
