MOUNT MORRIS: Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports 3 male suspects are in custody following felony charges after a burglary over the weekend in the Town of Mount Morris.
Deputies responded to the Build-A- Burger Restaurant located at 6455 Begole Road in the Town of Mt Morris at approximately 6:30 am on Sunday morning. Deputy Stephanie Schroeder and Deputy Nicholas Truax were the first on scene to start the investigation. The owners of the Build-A-Burger reported that their entire surveillance system was taken, along with the cash register. Sergeant Chad Draper and Sheriff’s Investigator Josh Monster also responded to the scene to assist with the investigation. Deputy Bob Holt of the Sheriff’s Office Forensic Identification Unit (FIU) processed the scene.
Through the investigation, evidence was collected along the Greenway Trail leading the investigation into the Village of Mt. Morris. Found along the trail were cash register parts, surveillance system parts, rubber gloves, loose change and a steady trail of macaroni salad. It was later discovered that the suspects stole a large bowl of macaroni salad, which they took turns eating, along their escape route.
The Sheriff's Office continued to run down leads throughout the morning and by early afternoon had their suspects in custody. All three suspects were charged with Burglary in the 3rd degree, Criminal Mishief in the 3rd degree and Grand Larceny in the 4th degree.
Matthew P. Sapetko, 34 years old of Mt. Morris, James P. Marullo, 35 years old of Mt. Morris, and Timothy S. Walker Jr., 23 years old from Idaho, were arraigned in front of Judge Lapianna and committed to the Livingston County Jail. Walker is also facing
charges for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree and Criminal Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument. Walker and Sapetko's bail were set at $7,500 cash and $15,000 secured bond. Marullo is being held on no bail, due to prior felony convictions.
Most of the victim's property was recovered in one of the suspect’s residences. Sgt. Horst of State Police and Mt. Morris Police Officers Ryan Regal and Mark Brado assisted.
