What funny or endearing things does your toddler do while nursing?
#toddlernursing #gymnurstics #breastfeeding
[Image: Close up photograph of baby nursing. Tex...t: Nursing A Toddler
Nursing a toddler
is not always fun.
It seems that nothing else
ever gets done.
Nursing an infant
is peaceful and sweet,
But nursing a toddler
with mud on his feet?
With peanut butter mouth
and a handful of cheese,
He pushes you down and
climbs onto your knees.
He positions himself
‘til he’s comfy and steady.
Then he tugs on your blouse
so you know that he’s ready.
You look down and smile
and you give him a drink,
Knowing those dishes
are piled in the sink,
Knowing the clutter
is still on the floor,
Hoping that nobody
comes to the door.
Oh, heck, you lean down
and you give him a kiss.
What can you do
more important than this?

Did your expectations of having a baby differ from the reality? How?
“Perhaps you did like I did, and imagined you would have this beautiful baby doll. You pic...tured dressing her up in her lovely pink outfits. You would play with her, and then she would fall peacefully asleep, in the crib you had purchased for her... but unlike those television babies who fall asleep when their head hits the pillow, your baby had other ideas, and only wanted to sleep at your breast!”

Hi all, we arrived to the building to set up for our meeting today and the church is experiencing a maintenance emergency. The heat is broken and many rooms are without power. Due to these issues we're having to cancel our meeting. We will remain here to answer questions and help address immediate issues in case anyone arrives until 10:45am.

We hope you are enjoying this holiday season so far. We would like to remind our community that we will not have a December meeting. These meetings generally have little to no attendance as it's a busy time of year for leaders and attendees alike. We will resume normal meetings in January and as always, we are available via private message or phone if you need help before then. Best wishes!

Have you had trouble keeping baby close and nursing during the holidays?
Thanksgiving often means family and friends including many who want to hold the new bab...y. Many parents find that it helps to set limits and say no to family and friends if you feel that you (or your baby!) can’t cope.
- Try to make sure that your baby is nursing according to their usual pattern.
- Be alert to your baby’s cues.
- Be prepared to intervene if your baby is getting over-stimulated or needs to nurse.
- Try finding a quiet place to nurse so that your baby is less distracted.
- Don’t allow yourself to feel guilty if nursing is preventing you from “helping out”.
- As an added bonus, baby is less likely to become sick especially thanks to the protective antibodies in your milk.

I sometimes wonder if my seven-year-old eats lunch at school the way she tears through afterschool snacks. Left unchecked, she’s been known to devour an entire bag of crackers in one sitting. I don’t want to keep her from snacking if she’s hungry, but it seems like every day brings news of another f...

Just a reminder that our online auction is a couple of weeks away. This auction will help LLL of the Sunshine State recoup some of the funds we lost through the cancellation of our 2017 conference due to hurricane Irma. Please RSVP to the event as either going or interested and invite all of your friends!
