It is with heavy hearts that we announce that meetings for La Leche League of Jacksonville at Avondale will be on hiatus until further notice. These meetings have played such a vital and welcome role in our lives over the past several years and we look forward to rekindling that community when we are able to. We are still available to support you via phone, text, and Facebook messenger. We have several La Leche League groups in the area that hold meetings monthly should you n...eed face-to-face support.
If you are interested in becoming a leader to help with the future of La Leche League of Jacksonville at Avondale, please message us.
Thank you for your support.

Ever wonder what happens when a baby latches? Great animation!! Update: Many of you are wondering the nipple is stretched so far I to the baby's mouth? The ni...pple must be pulled far back in the babies mouth to the soft palate to avoid sore or damage nipples. In order to achieve a a comfortable latch this must take place. The hard palate of the babies mouth massages the milk ducts to maximize the amount of milk the baby gets. This also means an efficient, effective latching for breastfeeding. If baby has a narrow gape, and was right on the tip of the nipple then the nipple would not go far enough to reach the soft palate. If this happens breastfeeding would be painful and often times described as a pinching or bitting feeling.
