The best bakery in New Orleans, no doubt. Pre-Link, post-Link, whatever: La Boulangerie is tops.

The baguettes have never changed quality, and I should know, ...as I'm in there grabbing one a couple of times a week. I tried the new roasted garlic baguette yesterday, and that's what inspired me to write this review. It was that good.

I'm thankful to Donald Link for keeping this neighborhood institution's doors open, and also appreciate some of the new menu items. In addition to the garlic baguette, it's hard to pass up the delicious curried beef pies. The service is always great, as well. La Boulangerie's employees seem to know their audience, and have gone out of their way for me a number of times. A+.

I miss the Raisin roll....I miss the warm bright yellow walls that gave a ray of sunshine in the morning...now there are antiseptic walls, no warmth, no soul........just business. I have had a few things and recently tasted the pecan and chocolate king cake which was excellent. I used to be excited to go there in the morning...a certain "go to" feeling. Now I go there for a purpose...not because I like going. I understand Donald link bought this to save the bakery in the hood, which is admirable! The "sunny side" of the street bakery and it's old world charm is gone. wish y'all the best Afficher la suite

The three of us had the sausage, egg and cheese breakfast. They were excellent although the service was a tad chaotic and they forgot one of them so had to wait... quite a while as thy are prepared freshly, so can't really complain. We also had some ham and cheese croissants to go, they were not so good and very very oily. Afficher la suite

Very disappointed. While the price of the galette has increased $5 since the change in ownership, quality has significantly gone downhill. The galette we picked... up last week wasn't even properly baked, some of the puff pastry being very undercooked in the bottom. At $25 for 8 inch you would expect that it would be properly made but no. That's not even mentioning that while it prides itself as being an authentic French bakery, the feve wasn't hidden inside the galette. Now I understand how it may be a hazard for some people, but a simple disclaimer would have solved that issue while educating people to the French tradition. Unfortunately this is only one instance of many where the Boulangerie has failed to deliver reliable quality like it used to. We won't be coming back. Afficher la suite

Best avocado toast I've ever had, and the chocolate croissant was amazing. The service was exceptional and it was worth every minute in the line! Thank you so much!!

We have been going here for 9 years. I hated the decor change, but still gave the food a try. Several stops here and I will try no more.
This was a nice French ...bakery, nice original foods, friendly wait staff and customers.
Now it is just like everything else here (post Katrina ) . Pho hippie , hipster rudeness and lack of quality.
I have visitors A LOT , we always were here but never again.

Thw food is very tasty, but over priced. I paid about 15 for a fancy, but small grilled cheese and a lemonade.

Love it! Great neighborhood bakery and coffee shop. Pasteries are excellent. Very busy though, expect 10-15 wait just to order coffee.

I asked for a Cinnamon Bun and a Kouign-Amann. When I got home, I had a Cinnamon Bun and a Cherry-Cheese Danish. My fault should have looked in the bag before I left the store.

It's not La Boulangerie any more. What used to be a friendly and quirky French pastry shop is now a drab example of faceless corporate efficiency. The croissant...s, once crunchy on the outside and buttery on the inside, are now chewy, spongy, and bland. The apple tart, previously delicate, not too sweet, and glorious in its simplicity, is now a clumsy mongrel with crumbles like a cobbler, the peel left on the apple slices, a crowning dollop of whipped cream, and a haphazard dusting of cinammon. The chocolate éclairs have been transformed into a squat monstrosity with caramel and salt, strewn with chocolate chips. The opera cake is missing, the raspberry tart has vanished... but there's a new key lime pie, which leaves me shaking my head. Might be good, but does it belong?

The bright yellow walls with Simon's whimsical hand-painted signs have been replaced with a dull grey paint job with track lighting over stock photographs. The place has all the charm of a cafeteria in an airport.

Why, why? What on earth are these people thinking?

P.S. I've been told they still make the chocolate éclairs and the opera cake. OK, but I wonder how they've been changed. I don't even want to look.

Very disappointed. Picked up our xmas order this morning. My boyfriend is a long time fan of the place and used to live very close. Not anymore. He had noti...ced from his first return trip the croissants were smaller as well as the blueberry muffins - they used to flow over the top of the cups but now barely reach the top. While I was waiting for him this morning, I was going to get a sandwich - anticipating the "better" ham, etc. Had to look pretty hard in the sparsely filled case and saw the salami sandwich. Wasn't impressed. Then saw the ham, also not as tantalizing as the old ones. Don't know the old price, but $9.50 for these was a no-go. Did not look like the pics posted on this page. Sorry to be so ruthless, but with Link's reputation, he doesn't get time to gear-up. The expectation is high and he didn't produce as far as I'm concerned. We definitely will not be making the tortuous drive Uptown! And being xmas eve is no excuse either, as far as I'm concerned - that should be when you really shine instead of having everyone walking in the door disappointed... Afficher la suite
