The Western District Spring Meeting of the Wisconsin Honey Producers Association (WHPA) was held at Myrick Park Center in La Crosse on Friday, March 9 and Saturday, March 10. Attendance both days was very good. Our main speaker was Michael Bush, who spoke on Practice Beekeeping. Below are a few comments from the survey handed out at the meeting.

-Wonderful, so knowledgeable. He had very practical ideas that really make sense. I came away with the desire to manage and care for my bees differently.
So, based on the above comments, I would have to say the meeting was successful.
This meeting was put together in conjunction with LaCrosse Area Beekeepers. Considerable help and effort was provided by members Jeff Baggstad, Jeff Moskonas, Ken Balts and others. Thank you to all who helped to put on this meeting.

A short District meeting was held. Tony Bowers was again asked to represent the district for the 2018-2019 beekeeping year.
A few questions on the places to get bees have come up. I really do not have details on suppliers. I would suggest folks contact them directly with questions.
Breakfast with the Beekeepers will be held Saturday Feb. 10th again at Longbranch in Cataract 9:00AM. Dan Ziehli, Bee Inspector for Southern Wisconsin, will be there to bring us up to date on what is happening at DATCP. Come and join the discussion and bring your questions and comments for Dan.

Ross Conrad, author of Natural Beekeeping, will present on a variety of subjects Sunday Nov. 5th 9:30 AM to 4 PM. Chippewa Falls. $30. I will post more info as I get it. I have been to two of his talks and they are very good.
