416 Fire prompts evacuation of Purgatory, Lake Purgatory, Silver Pick Lodge, Cascade Village north to mile marker 53.1
A mandatory evacuation order was issued this morning for 675 residences in Purgatory/Durango Mountain Resort, Lake Purgatory, Silver Pick Lodge, Cascade Village, Mill Creek and all residences on both sides of U.S. Highway between mile markers 46.5 to 53.1. Law enforcement officials began notifying residents door to door at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, and a CodeRED notification has been sent to residents. Residents must evacuate the area as soon as possible. @416Fire

U.S. Highway 550 will close indefinitely to through traffic from the San Juan County line to Cometti Lane at mile marker 32. Evacuees will be escorted through the closure zone. There is also a closure point at Silverton.
An evacuation center and shelter is open 24 hours a day at Escalante Middle School, 141 Baker Lane, in Durango. Evacuated residents are asked to check in at the evacuation center to receive credentials for re-entry when conditions allow the evacuation order to be lifted. Resident credentials are also available at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave. in Durango.
Livestock can be evacuated to the La Plata County Fairgrounds at 2500 Main Avenue. The emergency call center at (970) 385-8700 can help coordinate pick-up of livestock. Small animals are being accepted at the La Plata County Humane Society, 1111 South Camino del Rio, Durango (970) 259-2847.

I have and will continue to post this.
If anyone needs help evacuating, I am available. I also have two other friends that are offering the same though me. All three have different size trucks and a small trailer. We all work during the day, but any evening or in the middle of the night, please do not hesitate to call or PM on messenger. My cell is 9707990051. After 10pm, my home is 9702478499. I pray every day that it's not necessary but if and when it is, we will be there.
Please share with all in the pre-evac areas.
Have a blessed and safe day.

We are able to house some horses or livestock if needed. I live between Farmington and Bloomfield in New Mexico. We will gladly open our barn and stalls to anyone in need. We have 10 stalls with runs. Does anybody know who might have s need or who we would contact? Prayers for all.

Why hasn't Hermosa Mobile Home Village been evacuated? The air quality is terrible, it's closer to the fire than many evacuated areas, residents (including me) coming and going interferes with the road block, plus if the fire jumps we would have a hard time getting out.... Many people there are poor and have no place to go, no resources in the area, several were denied entrance to the Escalante shelter because their IDs weren't updated and they didn't have utility bills with them or anything... Evacuate (at least) northern EZ5!
no fire mitigation or anything has happened in Hermosa Mobile Home Village except what residents have done, the place would go up in a FLASH if a cinder came down there.... Very irresponsible to leave us so close to the fire and with no support.
just because we're poor?
