This month's LPEA meeting is very important! The LPEA Board of Directors has appointed a "Long Term Strategies Committee" to look into potentially breaking LPEA's contract with Tri-State Energy. Should the LPEA Board break its contract with Tri-State it will cost us (the LPEA members) anywhere between $400,000,000.00 and $700,000,000.00. Our elected LPEA board needs to hear from YOU!
Please encourage the LPEA Board of Directors... to keep our contract with Tri-State in place. We need to keep our electricity SAFE, RELIABLE, and AFFORDABLE. This will not be a vote for the members to decide, this will be a board decision only. Your voice matters! Please visit the LPEA website for more information.

As always we support the engagement of individuals in the Democratic process, although the La Plata County Republicans did NOT initiate the recall of Commissioner Lachelt we do support the recall effort. We agree that there are still serious ethical concerns regarding Commissioner Lachelt's use of non-profits as a back door for personal gain by representing special interest donors over the county residents whom she was elected to serve! We hope that above anything this process sheds more light on those concerns and look forward to how the effort plays out here in La Plata County!
I don't know this family but I know if it was mine I'd hope others would do the same! Please send your support if you can and keep them in your prayers sounds like they have a long road ahead still!
Legislation to allow Counties to elect our County Commissioners by district
Thanks for all of you for your participation! Great meeting last night!!! That will really get there attention. Our job is not done!! While people are revved up we need to really push for legislation that will allow us to choose to elect our Commissioners by district. We need a Democrat sponsor in the House and I think that should be Representative Barbara McLachlan. Please get this information to you...r email and facebook lists. We need to let her know how we feel. It is not fair that we do not have representation, that Fort Lewis College and Durango decide who will represent us!! I talked to Senator Coram and Representative McLachlan about running a bill that would allow us to elect our Commissioners by district and allow us to have representation. Senator Coram is ready to go for it, however, Representative McLachlan said that she is not interested at this time because La Plata County is opposed to it. I am not sure who she has talked to about this issue, but we in La Plata County need to tell her what La Plata County really thinks. Please contact her at 970-749-5683 or email@example.com. and ask for her commitment to run this bill in the House
