Such a short notice, we really appreciate it. Um basically, what we wanna do is to share with you. Uh some people in the detention are working on right now, which is another hungerstrike and we wanna read other demands right and so were with me all you have them. You know the electronic form and so I'm gonna try to make sense of what I'm reading that's. Why. I got new glasses to Come on by the way, I'm model uh with northwest detention Center systems, curry also member of the resistance and you all that come from. We offer yeah way and for, for those that are watching and done don't get confused with the University of inside. We got a lot of people. What you like music gosh uh so yeah Call a couple of calls over the weekend from people saying we wanna join the National our personal strike. I don't like people, heard about it back in 20 16 other was a National Christmas strike precisely to call attention today uh use of our labor uh prison labor rights labor and they were very successful in 20 16 several presents throughout the nation join they're calling for another one. This year, starting to like I can't do it from here um so let me to read this to you. It says eight 28 20 eighteen activists and detainees for human rights, immigrant rights. We are taking part in Hungerstrike nation White demanding demanding change and closure of those detention of these detention. Centers. We are acting with solidarity for all of those people who are being detained. Ruefully and it's time together to help support all the women who have been separated from their children and to stop all the family separation is happening today for a lot of us here who have been separated and who have citizen children ugh still we are being Into worker programs and treated bath even as volunteers, we demand minimum wage. This is a private Corporation and its using slave labor to run it separation to capacity with them and from ice approval of contact visits after a hundred and eighty days. Our family and most detainees are not criminals. We um no reason why we cannot hold our children after prolonged attention. It is damaging to our loved ones to not be able Do you have a contact visit available. Maybe in the front front, to No, warden is violated in many human rights every Thursday he commanded us to stand and salute him every Thursday that he walks into the parts some detainees, medication and cannot complain so many who don't understand for him are being recommended and sent to solitary confinement for not standing up next to our beds. Two as he walks in with them and finally, a reasonable bond for all those being detained, Washington he's the only state with ridiculous amounts for bunch and every Week day the night dozen of detainees from bond by repetitive, acting accusing people, our flight risk and danger to the community. So that's the um the letter that we received um yesterday from people the tank and I think it's very important to clarify one thing. We've always hear them and self you know better food hygiene, but now this is getting a new one when people are saying we want minimum wage. They have talked about the The dollar, a day as a problem, um that they work too long for one dollar but now they're saying we need dollar. Uh to win it, minimum wage and other parties that there's some new warden and we have her complains of people saying that he does walks every Thursday to every pub and yes, there victory and people have as if they were in the army to salute him um so we had the case of one person that um Hernia and he really took alot of our efforts to finally yesterday get him a um. How do you say something that keeps it in place. Like about thing right um so he's being the team for over two months now, close to three months and they would not only refused about but they also have refused to move him from the upper from bed to the lower pump and so every time that this has work through and he cannot get out from he's been weekly as everybody else um, he said one time here We have to put up his t-shirt and show the garden. Why he couldn't move fast, because he has the speak or any of the top sound right. Um and ice refusing him to have surgery as many other people so we also um later today we're gonna show on note that we receive from 27 people complaining about medical care and how they are uh you know at the same story, all the time people are seek their on the given time Lolol water and right now there's been six people in the Park that have problems. We've gotten since asking rush due to the uniforms. Um because they rush you so much doctor is actually send the medicine. The six of them started developing acne um style rush so they rations that they have go worse so the doctor agreed that they get their own medication so now they say we're gonna switch medical Like no, I don't give me anything. I don't trust you so from my regular rushing. Their bikes and in some of their um parts of their body. Now they have um something that looks like which is like bigger um saying you know, like rush, but now we'd like with um some sort of liquid inside which is really horrible um so we wanted to make sure that people come today hang out with us today here and then uh, which plan to stay here all day Will receive some calls and from the detention Center. Um. We we expect that they will try to last until September No, if they're going to be able, because remember everything, that's gotta hungerstrike, their place in San Antonio confinement um. They wouldn't really worry about that. We know, treat ball to started so we have you know conservative estimate of 200 people, but they might be more uh so really our role is to be out here that news get their wore out and that they um continue their there for soon to Bring Justice to this place and to automatically shut it down. So I just, I wanna to share some little bit about what her family is going through. That relates to do all this, despite hello my name is corrie and my husband is detained here and been here since the ninth of January We've been through everything um emotionally and financially all those things um but my husband is also having medical complications as well. Um so before he was put in here. We had a tumor on the right side of his neck. Um and he had a surgery date to get it taking care of mid January so we need to come in and told them that he has appointment day this is the place this is the doctor update and all that stuff and they just didn't take them. They made a. Mr day And they just kept Concern so I came up here to get information that can information to communicate to the ice officers. Um and they just didn't do anything so I kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger and he got more comfortable and he's had started. Having tingling sensation is his arm um not being able to move it. You know, instead of his range of motion has been um off and um so finally, after complaining all the time From April the 20 seventh at medical Center, but they didn't notify me. I didn't know about it and know where he was um. I Iga concern and I just start texting anybody that was in my phone that you know any. App because I can think of harass model so who do you know who can you call you know Last evening she was able to call up here and get way more information than I was able to even our Carter say hey I'm his spouse and they save me several times. I've talked to them um, but still I didn't get any information. Um so she was able to get information and she came the next day and she took her cellphone inside and let me speak to him this is how can I know he's not okay, but at least I can get some information and to you know, see how the surgery when see what they did with them and we went and all those things You know you try to recuperate from that when he first got out. He was in a wheelchair. He also had arm. Sling um he had to have help getting shirt on Like do regular things that regular people can do on the bathroom get this food tray. All that kind of stuff. Um and there was this one guy in particular, who was helping them with that. Um but he's not here anymore. So um he's, just basically on his own right now uh Therapy that in then, um so as a result of that, is just just here writing just horribly and fast. So he still having a tingling sensation in his arm. There's also still some of the tumor left cages and his um neck because they were afraid that they would make it worse Location so it's wrapped up into a bundle of nerves in the neck. So they wanted to leave that part in inside and and he was supposed to make sure that um he was seen by that surgeon to make sure they didn't continue to grow or turn into cancer From once since April, which was recently because I was like Like if I can plan and I'm really on them, I'm sitting letters and I'm harassing them visiting maintenance, something I feel like doing it. uh So recently also we found out that he's losing his vision and I don't know if this is the result of the tumor and the nerves and stuff in in his neck but um he's losing his vision and quickly so about months ago they prescribed him some have our glasses um and now you can see all of the time so that's how fast his vision is going um and then I spoke with him on Sunday and they gave him this little pink card and I have never heard of this before it's a pink card and it says 24 access care so I guess, if he feels But something is gonna happen to him when you feel simple. She's been complaining about the entire time. He's been here. Whenever he has an asthma attack or whatever the case maybe he's complaining complaining so they gave him this car because they're so afraid that something serious might happen to him and I'm just like. If it was that serious, just let me kno like Don't worry, I got this you know so. Um that's what's been happening with my husband, the entire time and it's been a have to go through. So many hoops just to get the smallest of information and you know And first, I was really sad crying and all that stuff you know the regular That he sick then on top of that, they're giving you the hardest time about trying to get any basic information so that you can try to save your spouses life. um It's just absurd than to hear about all the other people in there as well, and then I didn't know that there was a few people in there because my husband would tell me um. This person that's it for somebody else to put all And then to hear about all this, something like so it's, not just me, I'm not the crazy wife that's just paranoia than you know. Thinking you know the worst, no, this is happening to a lot of people and it's not just hanging on something like okay yeah really really really need to make sure it's okay and make it remember that I said this is the And for the people that are that ice to thanks, knowing that they Good thing, there so we've seen this again and again and again and that's why it's so important for us to shut this place down. You can see there's no took facilities as bad as the other ones. They might sell it. That way, but it needs to be shut down because of their top facility has this many problems, but you have to register so if we shout out this, what we can easily shut down the rest of them um so again, we're gonna be here for a while and then later today, after we hear back from Inside we are going to show the other document that we've received from from those 27 people that are with several other illnesses and we'll discuss how they look like you know how you can tell, but for now we just wanted to focus on the fact that you know there's, probably more dental 200 people um refusing meals were worry about their well being, but the fact that they're joining the National coal of prisons present straight or they also mention the families to having celebrate at the corner um that we know that so do we know that something that we happening for a long time and that they care from For other site so people that think you know those bad people all those people to care for everybody else and then like you said you know, people talk about you know there's. This other person. We have horrible illness or something posted because we get is not about the person that call us it's about somebody else um and you can see how they remain human. They fight for human dignity, insight and so that's. Why. It's so important that you are all here with us so thank you and, let's just hang out for a bit and they will hear from the people calling us and uh I will donald Nice treat thanks
