Initially we booked for 7 nights but like many others we extended our stay as it was so difficult to leave. The best of Australia and you get to sleep, eat and relax right in the middle of it. Flushin...g toilets, hot showers and the purest drinking water in the country. Beautiful birds and not a biting insect to be found. My number 1 destination. Thank you so much for wonderful hospitality. Maree and Hugh xxxx See More

We have just spent two nights at this beautiful place. Grassy sites, plenty of space, hot artesian pool, kayaking on the lagoon, lots of birdlife, beautiful surroundings, a sense of freedom and peac...e. We were sorry we couldn't stay longer. Particularly enjoyed the homestead tour and Jo's story. We would highly recommend Lara Wetlands to any caravanners who appreciate beautiful surroundings and natural beauty.

A very favourite place. We stayed in October 2016 and certainly hope to go back. I see that Jo was still there in January, though the auction was in November. If you're still there we hope we'll ge...t to see you there again. And if you've managed to sell and move on then we wish you wonderful adventures, knowing that you felt ready for a change and new horizons. Thank you for all the beautiful energy you and Michael put into that land. Sending our love, Jo and wishing you well - Lesley and Les from Conondale xx See More

Do yourself a favour and visit Lara Wetlands, idyllic waterfront camp spots, hot artesian pool, great bush camp facilities including flush toilets, showers and a dump point. Plenty of wood for your ca...mp fire, free kayaks to paddle around wetlands and the latest addition being the the 3 hole golf course. Quite challenging with lots of hazards!
Jo the property owner is a very down to earth country girl, always happy to have a yarn. We went there for 3 days and left after 15 days, highly recommended.

This is an amazing spot for camping!
I hung my hammock between two trees and slept here under the beautiful stars, and they were incredible to see. Lara wetlands is not for every camper, there is a pe...rfect amount of stuff for the basic camper and a perfect amount to steer away the nufties that want all the mod cons. Get into nature here, Take a long walk, swim in the hot pool, go birdwatching or sit by a camp fire, relax. It is the perfect place to wind down. See More

I went to Lara Wetlands for remedial massage by Bob Morgan of Complete Body Therapeutics. It was great to go into the hot mineral pool fed by the bore water following the massage. I was so impressed... by the tidy campsites around the water. Jo, you have done a fantastic job - even living out west, I would happily bring my kids here to camp for a day or two. See More

It's like an oasis in the middle of a dry barren drought. So peaceful and great facilities for kids. Loved the thermal pool. Sitting by the fire at night & watching the reflections on the water was me...smerising. The caretaker , a volunteer, is a bonus to the camping experience. A lovely man with stories to tell. See More

Hello All, Sorry I have been a bit quiet, We have been at Lara since the 3 rd of October, Now that I am home I can give you all an Update.
October the month of the 3 Rs: Roof, Rangers, and Glorious Rain At Lara
The 6th, 7th, & 8th saw the Roof on the hanger adjacent to the Wet Lands, Many Thanks to Greg & Pam Gartner,Ray Ebsworth(aka son-in-law), Miranda Bartley,(Daughter) Mark Tysoe (aka Lurch), Calvin Bartley (Husband), Bob Morgan, This band of merry men(& women) worked ...there butts off in the rising heat and manage to get the job done. Many Thank you's to all involved. They did a great Job.
We were very excited this month to get a viist from the Longreach Lake Eyre Basin Rangers: Fred, Jodie, Darren and Leroy. What a great team! These guys firstly came out to survey Lara and identified the Parkinsoia Aculeate Weed, commomly known as Parky, They cut and sprayed this out of control weed along the Alice river and controlled it at Lara its self. They also took time to do a spot of bird watching, taking photographs and documenting Lara's wonderful bird life. This great team along with Jo, worked to maintain a safe environment here at Lara., for all of us to enjoy. We would like to Thank and applaude them for there continuous work they do. We didn't have the pleasure of meeting Alf and Ron at Lara this Trip, but hopefully next time, we will see more of you pair. You are a great mob.
Lastly The Rain, Not enough, but we will take what we can get, Week 1 - 13mm, Week 2 - 18mm and Week 3 - 23mm. Well the buffel is shooting and is its starting to green up in the paddocks, keep praying more is needed. The Drought Hasn't Broken.
More to come tomorrow, so stay tuned. Big Smiles, Safe Travels. Lynny😀

It is with a deep heart I have to write this next story, after talking to Jo, please be advised: the person/s that cut the fence to the Wetlands, while on there recent visit, if you intend on coming back again, You will be asked to leave immediately. The cost of such fencing in any environment is not cheap and this fence is there for the protection of both visitors and wild life and the Wetlands alike. Much to say we are disappointed to be writting this up but it needs to be said. Safe Travels Lynny
