The weather forecast is looking just fine for tomorrow's Lazy Sunday Ride to Halswell Market - bring your sunscreen! We will be starting from the Hillmorton Shopping Centre at 12pm - please try to be on time! For those coming from further afield, you have a few options: (1) Drive there with your bike and use the shopping centre carpark, (2) take your bike on the Orange Line bus, or (3) use some of the surrounding cycleways and cycle-friendly streets to get there. See you tomorrow!

A family-friendly ride to visit the Halswell Community Market in Aidanfield (St John of God gardens, Nash Rd, 12-3pm). The 5-6km slow ride will explore some pathways leading to Wigram Skies, Broken Run and Aidanfield then head towards the market. Bring some money or your own food/drink for a picnic lunch. We will then take an even shorter route via Canterbury Agricultural Park to return to Hoon Hay. Market details: http://www.halswellcommunity.net.nz/…/active/halswell-market

Here's an interesting survey; they're particularly looking for less confident or infrequent riders to share their perceptions - https://www.research.net/r/NZcyclelevelofservice

Lazy Sunday Cycle Chch are planning more cycle rides around Chch this summer; typically the last Sunday of the month. As always, we could do with more people joining the team! It's not difficult; just pick a family-friendly route you know and show others the way (we can help with the logistical details and promotion). If you'd like to help us organise rides, send us a private message.

Join other social riders for a cruise through Addington and Wigram to the first ever NZ Bike Expo (http://www.nzbikeexpo.nz/). This will be a gentle ride of 7km from Church Square to Wigram Air Force Museum. It is via the new "Little River Link" Major Cycleway and other pathways, and is suitable for families and less confident riders. Return at your leisure, or by Metro Bus #60 (Southshore) from the Wigram Town centre to Selwyn St.

If you have been busy during October getting... Passport stamps, be in to win great prizes at Expo. Check out the special early bird entry price (until Oct 16th): Two for One deal for riders, Expo entry special. Promo Code BIKETOBER2829

This ride will be cancelled in the event of very bad weather (watch for updates via comments). Also check out the ride to the event scheduled for Saturday Oct 28th if Sunday's ride looks marginal.

We've been a bit quiet lately as winter takes hold. But there is plenty of planning going on behind the scenes for a number of great biking activities in the spring (hint: Biketober!).
