Development at what cost?

We are extremely lucky in the McDowall Ward to have a wide range of environmental assets on our doorstep, amazing green spaces, flora and fauna.

Sadly the Brisbane City Council and Developers are ignoring residents pleas and formal submissions - placing profit in front of our suburbs environment and wildlife.

The Albany Creek tributary and dams on 76 Bronson Street (near Tiverton Place) are a known platypus habitat, yet the Council appears determined to ignore their own Platypus Conservation Action Statement and Neighborhood plan to allow developers to build a revised 29 residential lots on this site. This surely will have an adverse impact on the platypus population and habitat.

The Brisbane City Council has an Platypus Conservation Action Statement providing guidelines for the conservation and management of Platypus Habitat and Populations:…/conservation_action_state…

The follow link is a videos of Platypus taken recently by a Bridgeman Downs resident.

Redback Garrison 501st Legion Pink Stumps Day is one of my favourite local events, combining two of my favourite things (Star Wars and Cricket) to raising money for a great cause - The McGrath Foundation.

Great to see so many familiar faces.

Thank you to the Redback Garrison - 501st Legion and Stafford Heights State School for hosting this great event.

Congratulations to St Gerard Majella Catholic Church on another outstanding Christmas Lights display this year. A Northside Christmas tradition that only seems to get bigger and better each year. This is a video for those who won't make it along this year.

Once again the Brisbane City Council and have ignored residents in Everton Park in favour of a BIG developer (Mirvac). The council has refused to act on a petition (containing over 700 signatures) against the development of 139-dwellings on Murphy's Paddock at Everton Park.

I have been contacted by local residents, who have all raised to me their concerns regarding the density, traffic, parking, lack of infrastructure, limited emergency vehicle access and the ecological im...pacts of this development. As a local myself - I share their concerns regarding this development..

Even the LNP's own Tim Mander MP - State Member for Evertonpetitioned against this development going ahead.

Residents of Everton Park deserve better than an LNP Council that refuses to listen and act on their concerns.

Does the Brisbane City Council really believe making Brisbane' s City Planning a game is a real solution to the over-development, traffic congestion and parked out streets, people living in our suburbs face every day?

When will the BCC take the concerns of residents seriously?

When will they admit they have made a mess of the City Plan and our Neighbourhood Plans with their poor planning decisions?

Brisbane residents deserve a council that takes planning and their concerns seriously.

As ratepayers of Brisbane, did you know that the LNP Administration is using your money to speculate on private property development? While also assessing devel...opment applications?

Graham Quirk is completely out of touch, using his massive majority in Council to keep you in the dark. This has to end.

A great piece today by Rod Harding.

THERE is a great, commonsense line delivered by one of the most successful coaches in professional sport, Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots: “I’m a football coach. I’m not a doctor ... they don’t call plays, I don’t do surgeries. We have a great deal here.”

Today marks the 10th Anniversary of the National Apology to Australia's First Peoples – a powerful and important moment in our nation's history that must never be forgotten.

Sorry, was a start on the path towards meaningful reconciliation and redress. We as a nation need to continue together down this path.

On Australia Day, it was my pleasure to MC the Lilley Australia Day Awards.

An event which recognises businesses, groups and individuals for their long term dedication and commitment to volunteering.

It was great to see so many volunteers receiving recognition for making our community stronger.

Well done to all of the wonderful award recipients.
