Brilliantly busy beginning to 2018 starting with a few days in London at my old stomping ground the BBC and catching up with some good friends. Love a trip to the Big Smoke!

Made a trip to Malton yesterday to visit the fabulous ladies at Handy Mag. What a gorgeous place, so many lovely little shops and cafes well worth a visit, especially at this festive time of year. Apparently it's the food capital of Yorkshire!

Spotted this in my client's canteen today. What a lovely touch!

#ThatsHarassment

On Friday I went to a thought provoking debate at Soho Theatre about the culture of abuse in the TV industry , hosted by journalist and broadcaster Sian Williams and Edinburgh International Television Festival.

Sadly the fact there is a culture of harassment and bullying in the TV industry is unsurprising, however it was horrifying to read the statistics behind it.

...

A staggering 71% of survey respondents said they experienced bullying and 54% experienced sexual harassment. Over 80% said reports of bullying and harassment were not dealt with effectively.

Some audience members were brave enough to speak about their own stories which highlighted the unfair, damaging and, above all, sad truth about what is going on right now, every day.

Dame Janet Smith, TV presenter Anna Richardson, 5 news editor Rachel Corp, UKTV chief exec Darren Childs and forensic psychology lecturer Afroditi Pina sat on the panel bringing their own insight in to both the negative impact AND the potential for change which is already taking place.

We must all play a part in changing the culture we work in, both within the creative industries and across all other sectors and as Darren Childs said, there should be zero tolerance.

To try and offer something by way of help I offered the services of Limelight HR for free to anyone in the audience suffering from, or still dealing with the aftermath of, a situation of bullying or harassment.

Really enjoyed my visit to Radio Yorkshire this week. Saw the guys presenting and had a quick tour of the studios. They're big on sport but they're also big on ideas for promoting business and engagement through video.

Great day yesterday at Supernetworking 2017 to open York Business Week.

Limelight HR was a last minute addition to the exhibition so what we lacked in pens and chocolates we made up for with bags of enthusiasm and met some fantastic people!

With a little more time we'd have ironed the tablecloth too......
