Just going through my spam folder to clear out junk, and there’s a string of emails calling me “Raelynn Savage” . . . “Raelynn Savage, your time is running out . . . game changer!” It occurred to me I might have led a very different life if my name were Raelynn Savage.
So honored and delighted for "Mine Till Midnight" to be in the Heroes and Heartbreaks eBook club spotlight today!
Had a great time being interviewed by Eliza Thompson from Cosmopolitan Magazine!
"Glass cows and brass beefsteak machines"
I had to share this article from a 1894 issue of "Food and Sanitation" magazine about a renowned scientist's predictions for how we would all be eating in the year 2000. The Victorians were so excited about all the technological and scientific advances they were making, they were confident that they could solve any problem by inventing the right machine. (If only!) According to Professor Barthelot, all consumables in the future, inclu...ding organic produce, would be made in factories out of chemicals. Beefsteak would be replaced by "compound tablets."
Here's a quote: "Wheat fields and corn fields are to disappear from the face of the earth, because flour and meal will no longer be grown, but made." And another: "The epicure of the future is to dine on chemical meat, chemical bread, chemical vegetables, drink chemical wines . . . "
This, obviously, was before the word "chemical" had acquired negative connotations in regard to food. The author of the article, however, did comment wistfully that "The idea of glass cows and brass beefsteak machines was truly scientific, but there was a lack of poetry in it."
I saw Beauty and the Beast last night with Greg and the kids, and we loved it! Gorgeous and magical, and so much chemistry between Dan Stevens and Emma Watson. Have you seen it yet? What did you think?
Which Wallflower hero do you think you think would still be sexy at sixty and why? Reply with your choice and why you chose him and you could be the lucky winner of a signed copy of DEVIL IN SPRING if you're in the USA or an e-book version if you live elsewhere. The random drawing will take place on Thursday morning at 11am CDT and the winners' screen names will be posted here (as an edit to this post), plus we'll private message them with further instructions.
And the WINNER is June Morris of Washington, D.C.! June, check your messages for one from me (Cindy, Lisa's assistant) for further instructions. And thanks to everyone!
