A unique historical landsight turned into a surprisingly original hotel with a great concept. Every room is unique and are from 1* to 5*****. The staff is very friendly, my stay was great, my daughter... and I had the pleasure of staying in a room with a swing in it...what a joy for kids. This place is a must-do if you are looking for the full "Amsterdam Experience". See More

I booked a 2 star room for one night for me and my girlfriend to celebrate our annivesary in Amsterdam. I got the opportunity to order anything extra (flowers, chocolates, champagne..) if I wanted to.... When I specifically requested a booket of red roses for her, they were very nice and professional. They understood it was a surprise and were discreet about this when we checked in. The booket was huge! Plus, we got promoted to a 4 star room for free! That was a surprise to us both. Thanks Lloyd Hotel, we will come again! See More

It is a unique hotel but too unique for my liking. The rooms are perhaps exciting to look at but not to stay in. This is one of the most uncomfortable rooms I've ever been in. There are, of course, no... tea/coffee making facilities (not uncommon in Europe) and not even a minibar/fridge; I was told there were some on the floor below but couldn't find them. The bed (2 single beds in my case, which I find quite different from a double) is too soft, as are the pillows. The light is too harsh and I've had to move the bed to find a socket. This is of course not as bad as having to open a massive cupboard to then shower in the middle of the room, without a door (perhaps not ideal, if you're sharing as you might be since it's actually a twin room). And one of the most unpleasant aspects are the room door, heavy iron, that slam every time and a lot since most rooms are not ensuite and people keep going to the shower or toilet. All in all, it's more like a funky student dorm than a hotel and it's certainly not worth what I'm paying for this allegedly 3-star room. I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 because the staff are nice. See More

Lloyd hotel&Cultural Embassy is a unique place/space for travelers where origins, originality, design, art, history and hospitality are getting fused at every step. 1to5 star hotel´s unique concept ma...kes it possible to feel it a place for everybody. There`s a swing in a room, and a 7-person bed in another. Keep exploring;) See More

The most beautiful, spacious apartment. It was hard to believe that we were in one of there 2 star rooms, as it was everything we could have wanted and needed and more. The restaurant and cafe were pe...rfect for every meal of every day and totally within our budget. Very impressed and would definitely stay again. See More

Had a wonderful experience here - felt safe in the hotel and the neighborhood. Not in the center of Amsterdam which was a nice break every night and had a beautiful view of the Ij. Across the street... is a nice little shopping center and a plaza on which there is a nice Spanish tapas restaurant & bar and a café for coffee. The staff is extraordinary - they solved every problem that I had, answered every question I had, researched topics for me, etc. I will definitely be back and will recommend it to everyone going to Amsterdam. Very clean rooms and great wifi. Wonderful access to public transportation (tram and ferry.) See More

My friend and me stayed there in the night of 4th to 5th December. We had a 2 star room, the bed was really cozy, the room and toilet were clean and the stuff was really friendly. A couple of days bef...ore I wrote a mail, that it's my best friend's birthday trip and I would like to make the trip really special for her. When we arrived the guy at the reception was super super friendly and professional, so if he's reading it: you did a very very great job!!!
My friend got a super sweet gift and a hand written card from him. We met him when he was leaving his shift, he remembered her birthday and congratulated in his privat time!
I hope the GM knows that the guy at the reception is doing such a great job and he will be honored for it!!!

I also worked in a hotel, so I know that I am really special in assessing a hotel and the stuff, but he really filled all of our expectations!

The only minus are the showers in the middle of the room! That would be no problem, but the room was really wet, because the wall wasn't fixed with the ground.

All in one we were really happy, thank you for making our trip that amazing!

Great location, easy to get to Amsterdam centre. Hotel is really nice, a lot of history in the building and they have tried to keep a lot of this which makes it a really interesting stay. Our room wa...s enormous with a really quirky bed in a cupboard.

Would definitely recommend anyone to stay here- and would definitely come back!

My wife and I stayed in a 2 star room in April of 2015. It was quiet, clean, and comfortable. The price was beyond reasonable, the staff was welcoming, and the breakfast was fantastic. I have recommen...ded this hotel many times since and I will continue to do so. See More

We have booked the swing room and I had to say this was the best hotel room I've ever stayed. Very spacious room.
We had a pleasant stay in this hotel, staffs are friendly, the foods were delicious, h...owever the cleaning lady did not provide us with shower gel everyday, and she didn't throw away the rubbish or exchange the towels everyday . See More

When we arrived we feared the hotel might be trying too hard to be "trendy" for its own good. Not so. Relaxed efficient friendly service. Great breakfast - way beyond the usual hotel fodder with excel...lent carefully sourced food. Great food and drinks. The only downside - even the 5* room was so minimalist as to have no tea or coffee making facility. A bit of pain as the only option was to walk up a flight to a communal "station" or I guess room service - when you're looking to relax into a late Sunday morning not ideal. Details ,details but easy to fix with a designer coffee maker and kettle. Please sort by September as next visit booked! See More

Really a fun boutique type hotel. Every room is different and unique. Very friendly people at the desk and restaurant. A quick jump on the 26 tram to Central Station where you can quickly change to ge...t the Museums or wherever! I'd recommend it if you don't want to stay right in the hustle and bustle of the city but still have easy access to wherever you'd like to visit. See More

I went for a weekend with a friend and looking for special places, we found this old prison rebuilt as an hotel. We thought that the idea was hilarious!
The hotel is very closed to the center town, cl...eaned, the staff is lovely and the breakfast is great!
We stayed in a twin room and was really unique. The weekend we were also, we could enjoy a Japanese workshop and exhibition, then was really fun. Also is a great place to investigate new corners and for a walk around it. Also in front of the hotel there is an Spanish bar and a nice cafe

The Lloyd Hotel is a unique place for many reasons. The building itself and different designs of the rooms create a unique and playful atmosphere. But what makes the Lloyd really special is the wonder...ful and warm staff that makes you feel very welcome. It is a great place to explore the city but also for a bite (try the lemon pie) or meeting. Looking forward to my next visit. See More
