On Friday, May 10, 2019, Kenia Buckner’s family finally received justice when Antowan Ladell Parker was sentenced to 75 years to life in state prison plus 17 years and eight months.

On that date, deputies from Lakewood Sheriff’s Station responded to the 16200 block of Cornuta Avenue, Bellflower regarding a gunshot victim at the location. Upon the deputies’ arrival they learned the suspect, Antowan Ladell Parker, barged into the apartment of his estranged ex-girlfriend, Kenia Buckner. Suspect Parker pointed the gun at several of her family members before fatally shooting Kenia in front of two of their three children.
Suspect Parker fled the location southbound on foot. Homicide detectives continued their search for Suspect Parker.
