STOLEN VEHICLE LEADS TO BURGLAR’S ARREST
On 03/27/2019 at approxima...tely 7:43 a.m., Officer Lyle Kelley was on patrol in the area of the 1200 block of F Street. Officer Kelley observed a suspicious Chevrolet 2500 utility truck in the area. The officer ran the license plate as the vehicle drove into a gated property in the 1200 block of F Street. The vehicle came back as stolen out of Buttonwillow, California.
Los Banos Officers set a perimeter around the property and eventually located and arrested the driver of the stolen vehicle, Michael Lee Desa, 34 of Los Banos.
Los Banos Detectives wrote a search warrant for the property and found a stolen trailer, three additional stolen vehicles, stolen oxy acetylene tanks, fuel pumps, stolen tools, and 14-stolen propane tanks. The stolen items were taken in recent burglaries from at least four local businesses, another business outside of the City.
All of the local stolen property was recovered and returned to the owners. The owner of the stolen truck and trailer was notified and has made arrangement to pick up his vehicle and equipment.
Michael Lee Desa was booked into the Los Banos Police Department jail facility. Desa remains in custody at the Merced main jail in lieu of $80,000 bail. Mehr anzeigen
JUVENILE ARRESTED IN WEEKEND SHOOTING
On March 24, 2019 at approxim...ately 11:21 p.m., Officers were dispatched to a home on the eastside of town for a report of a man with a gunshot wound. The victim told family he was shot a business in the 2200 block of Pacheco Boulevard.
Los Banos police officers found evidence of a shooting at a nearby gas station with a blood trail leading to the man’s home. The victim, 25 of Los Banos was airlifted to a Modesto area hospital for treatment. The victim remains hospitalized in critical, but stable condition.
Detectives retrieved video surveillance and were able to identify at 17-year-old male involved in the shooting. On March 26, 2019, Detectives served a search warrant at a home in the 2700 block of Snowgoose Drive. A 17-year-old suspect was arrested at the home in connect with the shooting. The suspect was booked into the Iris Garrett Juvenile Justice facility on charges of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit a crime, and participation in a criminal street gang.
The investigation remains open and several others are sought in connection with the shooting.
