TOMORROW! Tune in to see Christian Piccolini talk about white supremacy in America today.

Tune into MSNBC for 'Breaking Hate' with Christian Picciolini on Sunday, August 12 at 9pm ET and comment on the Breaking Hate on MSNBC page while you're watching!
Exceptionally important thread on how journalists should be covering white supremacists. Their express intent is to divide communities and incite violence.
They want to create a society where people of color, LGBTQ+ folks, women and people with disabilities feel like they do not have the right to feel safe in public. There is no reason to promote that anti-American ideology.
Let’s be clear. A car didn’t kill Heather Heyer, a white supremacist did.

It's been almost a year since neo-Nazis marched openly in Charlottesville, VA to try to normalize their bigotry.
Many prominent white supremacists have been removed from social media and web hosting platforms, but that's far from a complete victory.
Too many people are repeating -- and cheering -- white supremacists' talking points. Too many violent extremists are openly spreading their toxic message.

Great post on the I-185 initiative that will be on the ballot in November.
The tobacco industry has a huge war chest ready to try to defeat I-185. Passing this initiative would mean stability for thousands of families in Montana.
YES to I-185.
I.H.S is not health insurance
On November 6th, the General Election ballot will have a ballot initiative called I-185. Your choices will be Yes or No and we urg...e all our members and followers to vote Yes on I-185 to provide funding for Medicaid expansion through an increased tobacco tax.
Without funding, Medicaid expansion will not provide zero cost health insurance coverage for services such as:
✔️Dental care
✔️Vision care
✔️Addiction services
✔️Mental health services
✔️Prescription drugs
✔️Contract and referred care services
✔️Audiology/hearing aid services
✔️Transportation to and from appointments
Who's eligible for insurance coverage with Medicaid expansion?
Working parents

Grateful that the state of Montana has required that Native American history is taught in public schools. Here's more on how that happened.

But how many white people living in Montana interact with Native American people on a regular basis?
...Find out how anti-Native American Indian groups are trying to use Americans' ignorance to stoke resentment toward indigenous people to take away their rights. The Montana Human Rights Network recently did a fantastic report on this that you can read here. https://mhrn.org/2018/07/18/
Courage and connection. Minds changed.

“We are so divided now in this country that we’ve forgot what makes us strong is really reaching out to the other side.”
This unlikely and extraordinary friends...hip between a former member of the KKK and a Syrian refugee who both live in Georgia proves that hate is often times just a cry for help.

Celebrating James Baldwin’s birthday a few days late. He is a powerful, necessary voice for equality.

Watch James Baldwin, who was born on this day in 1924, deliver his seminal speech on whether the ‘American dream’ has been achieved at the expense of African-Americans.
"Changing your surname can represent a new type of independence, especially for transgender people who have been rejected by their families due to their identity, but most importantly, it represents who a person was always meant to be."
The pressure of the midterms and investigations are bringing news like this. The current administration is trying to make it harder for people of color to become citizens.

After the Love Lives Here meeting tonight, this truck rolled past me and a friend who were talking on the sidewalk outside. They drove by three times to shout at the person I was with, who is gay.
“[Name of my friend] is gay!”
“There are only two genders!”
My friend wasn’t hurt physically or emotionally, but my friend was concerned that this could escalate. We left.
This kind of harassment has one purpose: to control who feels safe in public.
This is unacceptable, but people keep getting away with it. Teach your children this is wrong. Refuse to stay silent when this happens.
