California Attorney General Xavier Becerra and leaders from 17 other states have sent a protest letter to Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross opposing a Department of Justice request to add a citizenship question to the 2020 census. MALDEF president and general counsel Thomas A. Saenz says a citizenship question would result in an undercount of the Latino community that would lessen its political power. "I think the administration knows that, and I think the administration is proposing it to decrease the count from the Latino population in particular," he said. http://www.publicnewsservice.org/…/latino-groups-p…/a61449-1
