NOAA Science On a Sphere

The Sea Ice Extent: September Only dataset was recently updated to extend back through 1979 and go through 2017. September 2012 still holds the record for the l...owest sea ice extent in the satellite record for the Arctic. September is specifically highlighted because that's when the minimum sea ice extend is reached in the Arctic. Read more here:…/sea-ice-extent-september-only-1979-…/

We were in Macon to have my car worked on and needed to kill a few hours. I had my 13-year-old stepsister & my 1-year-old baby with me. We were amazed at how much stuff there was to see and do. Time f...lew by, and we all had a great time. See More

My boys and I absolutely loved it here. They are 1 and 3 and there was so much stuff to do for them. We had a blast and my 3 year old was asking to go back before we even left.

Was here yesterday and a bunch of the exhibits were roped off and could see them. The supplys were gone from the craft area. Other than that is was fun.

I loved the museum as well as our two year old daughter did. We watched the live animal show and it was awesome then we watched the planetarium show and we learned so much. Couldn't have been more satusfied.

Generally good; my 8 years old daughter enjoyed herself. The animal habitat was clean with no offensive smells. The staff was helpful. As an advanced amateur paleontologist I notice that the museum st...ill hasn't updated & corrected their Ziggy the whale display; a talk held there two years (?) ago properly identified it as a Durodon serratus, not a Zygorhiza at all. It is also improperly dated to 40 million years when it is about 34 million years old. See More

The kids really enjoyed this for the price. It is not the biggest place, but they have animals as well as science exhibits and some artwork. We did not have time for the planetarium this time because ...we needed to get back to Florida, but perhaps we will see it next time. See More

We had a great time, we definitely will be back, but I do wish the staff were more helpful or even looked like they wanted to be there or more staff walking around to ask questions too, bc there ...were some areas that we got to and didn't know if we're allowed to do certain things. But overall great place! See More

We had our daughter's 5th birthday party at the museum this past weekend and it was amazing!!! It's by far the best venue in Macon! Our party host, Chris was beyond excellent and helped us with every ...step of the party!! He went above and beyond what he needed to do to make the birthday girl and all of us feel special and relaxed!! Our guests, parents mostly, we're so impressed and wanted to know how they could have their child's party there too!! We ended up getting a membership to be able to enjoy the museum all year long!! 5++++ stars!!!! See More
