Place of excellence and proud history. Makes my second time there always awesome times. This was a memorable day for me tho. I was at the millers landing to wit...ness the retirement of a close and dear friend of mine GySgt Barker. It was amazing to see this event and take in some of the sites as well as see some of the historic aircrafts on the way in. See More

I was at MCAS CPNC from 1972-76 (H&MS-14 Avionics). I had gotten my A-level USPA Parachutis t certificat ion while at NAS Memphis so I immediatel y joined the Mari...ne Sport Parachute Club Cherry Point (MSPCCP). Back in the days of Capt. Fred Nickels, Capt. John Langdon. And could never forget LtCol Stanley Wawrzyniak (sp?), provost marshal. He loved us, we were scared to death of him.
I was the Secretary- Treasurer, VP, and then the club president. We trained hundreds of Marines (and their spouses, when we used the civilian drop zone in Lewisburg, Franklin County Sport Parachute Center). I still remember those days jumpmaster ing our students out of the '46s & H1Ns out of New River when they could fly for us. I understand there aren't any more sport parachute clubs like there were back in my day and you're stuck with whatever MWR can come up with if anything at all. Also, we used to do water jump demos each year for the Swansboro Mullet Festival. Great memories, great times, great friends. Some day I'll have to stop by the Air Station one of those time I'm traveling through eastern NC. Semper Fi. And Stay Safe! (I was CSO & DZSO also!) See More

We had a GREAT time! Everything went smoothly, in comparison to the Wings over Wayne show we attended last year. Our family had a fun time at both, but this was... MUCH more enjoyable- -better traffic flow; more to see and do; bathrooms strategica lly placed; overall, well thought out and planned! Very affordable family fun day! Thank you for the memories and for your service :-D See More

Marines assigned to 2nd Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion send rounds down range using various weapons at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., June 6, 2017. The Marines honed their skills firing the M240B machine gun as well as the M203 and MK19 grenade launchers. Approximately 80 Marines qualified on all three weapon systems during this live-fire training. (U.S. Marine Corps video by Lance Cpl. Cody Lemons/Released)
