To the Congressional Black Caucus and the Progressive Caucus,

"The war in Vietnam is but a symptom of a far deeper malady within the American spirit. . . When machines and computers, profit motives and property rights, are considered more important than people, the giant triplets of racism, extreme materialism, and militarism are incapable of being conquered."
Martin Luther King, Jr., “Beyond Vietnam,” April 4, 1967

In the anti-war tradition of the Black Liberation movement and in the spirit of Ida B. Wells, Martin Luther King Jr., and Muhammad Ali, We, the undersigned, call for no United States military intervention in Venezuela.

We call for the elimination of sanctions on Venezuela. Economic sanctions are another form of warfare on the people of Venezuela.

We demand that the Congressional Black Caucus and the Progressive Caucus oppose Donald Trump and the United States Government’s effort to destabilize Venezuela and create a coup in violation of the Latin American country’s right to sovereignty and self-determination by voting for H.R. 1004, the Prohibiting Unauthorized Military Action in Venezuela Act.
