On February 5th & 6th the Madison County Youth Bureau brought four Madison County youth (two from Chittenango and two from Stockbridge) to the 17th Annual Youth Leadership Forum in Albany. This event was sponsored by the Association of NYS Youth Bureaus, NYS Partnership for Children, Youth and Families, and NYS OCFS. The forum is an interactive leadership and educational seminar offered to youth and Youth Bureau personnel from across New York State.
On the first day, Madi...son County youth utilized their leadership skills to facilitate teambuilding activities for youth in attendance and participated in discussion groups and workshops. They were inspired to bring what they learned back to their communities.
On the following day the youth had the opportunity to meet with Senator David Valesky’s Counsel and Assemblyman William Magee. The youth voiced the importance of Youth Bureau funding and what the Youth Bureau means to them, as well as express how important the programs that it provides are to our community from a youth’s perspective. These four young women delivered a heartfelt message to our state representatives and did a fantastic job at representing Madison County. They also had the opportunity to deliver items that were collected and donated by Youth Bureaus across the state to assist Golisano Children’s Hospital with their teen surgery bags.

Upgrades range from adding smart technology to a lone courtroom in the Oneida County Court House to a complete interior facelift at the Madison County Courthouse.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) would like to recognize Deputy Dale Durant for his dedication to serving his community.
On January 12, 2018, Deputy D...urant received a call for a disabled vehicle. The family was traveling with three children and short on resources. Due to the extreme winter weather conditions, Deputy Durant transported the family to the Colgate Inn and paid half the bill for the family. The MCSO would not have known about this kind gesture if not for the Colgate Inn contacting the MCSO to inform Deputy Durant they would be reimbursing him and taking care of the family’s bill.
We would like to thank Deputy Durant and Colgate Inn for their generosity and compassion to a family in need. Wonderful things happen when a community can come together and support each other.
