Last night I was one of four NO votes to send the proposed 33% pay hike for City Council members to the voters. I will also vote NO on my ballot this fall. With so many people struggling to make ends meet in our City, more money for elected officials is the last expenditure we should be considering right now. During my campaign this summer and fall I won’t be shy about telling the voters why this misguided pay raise should be turned down flat by the voters who elected us!
- Hi Marsha! I wondered if you could look into this issue that I post...ed about on the Aurora Police Department's Facebook page (see link below). I know Denver addresses this issue by requiring panhandlers to be licensed. Perhaps Aurora could do something similar? I will see about talking to Sally about this, too since the incident occurred within her district. Thanks! https://www.facebook.com/…/105812526089…
After a meeting with Billy Kirkland, Asst. Director to the President for Intergovernmental Affairs, Mayor Hogan, Councilwoman Cleland and I paused for a quick photo with him with the White House in the background. Dir. Kirkland was very interested in Aurora water and helping us get a new reservoir permitted and approved. Great meeting!

Aurora Academy's 2nd grade class was so attentive as I read a book to them for Read Across America Day. They asked great questions and said they know how important it is to learn how to read well. We had a wonderful time together. Go 2nd grade!
I was able to work with High Point Church to provide and deliver winter boots to Lynn Knoll and Lansing Elementary Schools. The staff and principals were very helpful. Those kids are so cute it was hard to say goodbye. I love kids!

I attended the naturalization ceremony of 74 new Aurora citizens from 35 countries. What a heart warming experience. You should have seen the smiles and tears. It was beautiful. Congratulation to you all! I'm especially proud of them because I'm married to a naturalized citizen and I know how much it means.
