Since the election, I have been approached by many Democrats who believe our party needs new leadership. I'm taking a hard look at DNC Chair because I know how badly we need to reform our nominating process, articulate a bold progressive vision, recommit ourselves to higher wages and a stronger middle class, and return to our roots as a nationwide, grassroots party.

You, Martin O'Malley, were my choice in the beginning. I support you and your platforms. I hope you lead the way! And I hope to assist you if I can!

The DNC needs bold progressive leadership and while I think you could be a part of that this isn't your time to chair governor. Keith Ellison as the first Muslim member of Congress Ave progressive caucus chair would starkly contrast Donald Trump's hate

We need a complete reformation. More voices of the actual constituencies--of the people who are supposed to be represented, less of the "elite" and establishment Democrats.

Governer O'Malley. I recently wrote the DNC. I hope it gets through to someone. In case it doesn't I want to share it with you: Dear DNC,
I strongly believe that reason we have President-Elect Donald Trump is through the missteps put forward by your former DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz and the Hillary campaign staff. It became apparent that the DNC not only conspired against Senator Bernie Sanders, but also propagated Donald Trump onto the political stage with the assumption that he would not pose a legitimate political threat. The combination of these missteps and the super-delegates who strongly opposed the will of the people during the primaries setup the perfect storm for what became the strongest Republican election results in political history. I don’t have to point out the obvious repercussions as a result of the unethical actions that many members of the political establishment from the Democratic Party engaged in. The reason I am writing to you today is to strongly encourage you to reflect immediately. Not one, two or three years from now, but now! There are lessons to be learned from this campaign season.
The primary lesson you should be taking into consideration is that the modern American political climate in which the DNC now operates in has changed. The American public spoke loud and clear during the primaries, we no longer want elections or candidates who embody a system of corruption where huge sums of money dictate their actions. Donald Trump understood this and ran his campaign under those principles. He is now president-elect. Bernie Sander also understood this and was buried by his supposed party. I am truly concerned that you do not understand what is going on and have lost touch with your core constituents. We cannot change what has become a reality. What is certain is we will now take steps backwards in democracy due to the mistakes that were made. What you collectively can do is reflect and ask why did we miss the obvious choice that would have kept our recovering economy, environment, the middle class and security moving in the right direction?
I recently learned former Howard Dean is considering running for DNC chair and I warn you that you are doomed to repeat the same mistakes that could allow President-elect Trump to run again unopposed without legitimate candidate who can truly change the course of a dark time in American history. This is the first time I have taken this much to write any political entity my concerns. Given the grave nature of what happened and what could still potentially happen I feel compelled to. I am a father, husband, Mexican-American Naturalized US citizen, veteran, brother, son and most importantly an American. I care deeply about this country and truly believe we are capable of great things if we listen to the collective majority. There is a need for change and restructuring of our political system. It will change with or without the DNC. I urge you to change with it, resisting the political current will only result in drowning.
Sincerely
Joel Salazar

With all respect if the DNC learned anything from this election it should have been that we (the majority of Democrats) do not want an insider such as yourself, Howard Dean, or any of their corporate cronies to run the DNC. The progressive wing of this party is going to take leadership and if you don't let us it will be the end of the Democratic Party because we will break away and form our own party! The only option at this point in time is Keith Ellison!

The Democratic party needs to get back to its roots of supporting the working class and communities of color. You may be too young to remember, but I remember watching JFK campaigning in inner cities, in Appalachian mining towns and outside factories (the modern day equivalent of which would be a Walmart parking lot). The party leadership has lost its way, giving lip service to what it used to stand for, while giving tacit approval to union busters, an elitist financial system and global trade agreements that have broken the backbone of America.

Keith Ellison please Mr. O'Malley. I have a lot of respect for your Presidential run, but the DNC cannot afford to chair a leader who ended up with such little momentum during this election disaster. Please take a humble look at your performance, and a pragmatic look at where the DNC needs to go and go soon. There is no time left for political games. Join Bernie Sanders in recommending Keith Ellison for Chair and lets move on to the next step, soon.

Martin you may be out last hope to restore the party and go up against Trump. You were the only one brave enough in February to call out the DNC on their crooked way of doing things and everyone just brushed it under the rug. It's time for you to call out the party the way Trump did with the Republican Party.

Dear Governor, respectfully, I think the current mood of the country demands more populist progressives in Democratic leadership positions. We already need to put up with Senator Schumer as minority leader. We already had to have Secy Clinton shoved down our collective throats. Although we thank you for your service, the American people have pushed the centrist establishment Democrats to the side. Please make way for Representative Keith Ellison

Mr. O'Malley, I had the honor of meeting you in June. You're someone I admire and look up to, and you had my backing in the primaries after you demonstrated your commitment to diversity and inclusion by rallying Muslim voters in Maryland. However, in order to truly be the "big tent" party and the party of the working class, our leadership must embody those 2 characteristics, and because of that, there's no better person to lead the DNC than Keith Ellison, and I hope that if you truly believe in sticking to the same ideals that drew me to supporting you in the primaries, you'll support Keith too.
